We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannette Hammer Heath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeannette, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel the most important factor behind my success is my desire to make a difference in peoples lives. Massage therapy is so much more than simply relieving muscle tension. I have the honor of seeing people in their happiest, most amazing moments in their lives. Massages are given as birthday gifts, wedding gifts, to help a pregnant momma relax through her pregnancy. I also get to see them through their tough, stressful and sad times as well. See, we seek out all forms of therapy for ourselves when we are happy or facing our challenging moments. These wonderful people trust me to bring them an element of stress reduction, and compassion into their lives. So I provide each of my clients a session that is customized to their therapeutic needs/goals-body, mind and spirit. Recently adding my yoga teacher certification to this is just another element of how I can assist them in achieving their goals by adding movement to their well being.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A home is a person’s retreat from the outside world. Being a mobile massage therapist and yoga instructor means I get to bring another element of self care to my clients. This allows them the utmost ability to relax and unwind, not worrying about getting to their appointment on time, dealing with traffic, finding a sitter, etc. Being able to craft a session for my clients using therapeutic or relaxing massage, stretching, cupping, gua sha and yoga allows me to be creative in how I assist them, which I love doing. Over the years I have worked for other companies, grown my business by having my own studio space, as well as being mobile. Growing a business is never easy. There are always challenges. Growing a business organically and slowly was the best path for me. This means sometimes sacrificing time off, or other personal aspects of my life, but in the end, I have been able to grow not only a business, but a connection with other’s in my community. By networking with other businesses, providing chair massage at events throughout the valley, and finding other like minded individuals in the service industry I have learned that being a part of the community feeds my personal growth as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Jerome. The history and shops there are amazing. Catching a performance at either Gammage or Hale Theater is always on my list. Watching the sunset from the top of South Mountain is breathtaking and a definite must. Almost anywhere in downtown Chandler or Gilbert for dinner and drinks is perfect. Let’s not forget a trip to the Gilbert Farmers Market on Saturday morning as well! Ending the week with a great yoga class and sound healing is a must.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success would not be possible without the support of my family and friends. They have always encouraged me to reach for my goals. My dad was a small business owner, and he and my mom always instilled in me how important customer service and working hard for your goals is. My son encouraged me to work smarter not harder. My aunt has always been an inspiration that you are always able to reinvent yourself and grow. No matter what stage of life you are in. My friends are always encouraging me to grow and be my best self. They are all my reason why.
