We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeffrey Carpenter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeffrey, how do you think about risk?
For any business owner, and especially for entrepreneurs, risk taking is critical in actually manifesting the passions that led you to even considering the risks in the first place. We may be prompted to change our lives from a standard job and lifestyle to a hectic and stressful work environment. We may be asked to sacrifice routine in order to step out of our comfort zones and reach for new heights. With my business Dimensions Reiki, I had to completely step out of my technical career and embrace the holistic and spiritual guidance I was receiving. I am an Aerospace Engineer and a Computer Instructure Design Specialist; how could I possibly follow this completely crazy new path of channeling healing energy into clients for stress relief and pain reduction?! My formation of Dimensions Reiki was a pursuit of heart over logic, and I am still surprised at how those initial passions continue to drive me. If you want to envisioning taking risk, think about stepping out of science and into spirituality, and then rebranding the entire business with a new mission statement for a Scottsdale retail store called Dimensions of Heaven & Earth???

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From my early years, I was always fascinated by the stars in the sky and wanted to know more and more about what caused their lights, how they seemed to be in different locations in the sky, and what astronauts did when they left our planet. I studied aerospace engineering and was ready to pursue those goals. My initial work was performing vibrational research on wings for NASA, and then I joined the Space and Terrestrial Communications group of the US Army, working on tactical satellite and battlefield digitization prototypes. With my communications expertise, I joined Ernst & Young in 1997, become an Associate Director of Solutions Engineering. Throughout my scientific career, I never expected to find my calling in the realm of spiritual healing, but in 2013, I lost a bet to attend a class on Reiki energy healing…and the rest is history. It became such an important part of my life that I founded Dimensions Reiki in New Jersey to continue my work, and eight years later, it’s time to take a new risk by rebranding and expanding the business into the Valley’s newest specialty boutique, Dimensions of Heaven & Earth, COMING SOON to Scottsdale!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With our move to Scottsdale, we have a lot of friends and family interested in coming to visit. We want to welcome our visitors by showing them the lights of Fashion Square, Old Town, and the Scottsdale Quarter, while also enjoying hikes and excursions to the Lost Dog Trail and Canyon Lake. Because of our love of the variety of experiences across Arizona, no visit would be complete without trips to the vortexes of Sedona and the Wild West revival of Tombstone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am forever grateful for the patience, support, and development I’ve received from Lee Van Zyl from the NJ Reiki Center in Clifton, NJ. Her recognition of my specialized background and the accomplishments I have achieved in uniting Science and Spirituality helped to give me the courage to pursue my own business. I would also like to thank and praise Jessica Apgar of Network Exchange for the insights, love, encouragement, and bold business ideas that demonstrate her creativity and passion for helping others, including me. Finally, I would like to thank my family who, to this day, still support my evolution after decades of leading a completely different life.
