We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Klick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Given them my time.

My husband and I were living a typical life. We were both working, living in a suburban neighborhood, had two kids, and a dog. We built everything we *thought* we wanted, but for some reason it still didn’t feel right to us. Some days it felt like we barely saw our children or we were stuck in this mundane routine that did not bring us joy. That’s when we decided to make some drastic changes.

I quit my job as an Occupational Therapist. We sold our home and most of our belongings. We moved into an RV to travel the country, making family our first priority. We now homeschool our children and have traveled to 30 states in the past few years. Since my husband works remotely, it was an easy decision for us and although living in a home on wheels comes with challenges, the benefits outweigh the cons.

Since making these changes, family relationships have flourished. My children are thriving. We spend our days visiting national parks, hiking, mountain biking, reading, visiting libraries, and learning all about the world around us through hands on experience. We are making so many beautiful memories living this lifestyle.

Giving your children your time doesn’t mean you have to make the drastic changes we did, but by being there for them, spending quality time together without distractions, having meaningful conversations, and establishing that trust and rapport will make a world of a difference.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I utilize content creation as my creative outlet. I love sharing the places we visit with beautiful photographs along with descriptions of the location or any other tips for others who would like to visit, great hiking locations, and some RV-living humor.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well since we travel the country, this is a hard question to answer! There are so many place we loved while traveling. I’m a sucker for sunrises and sunsets. The best I have ever seen was a sunrise upon Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. Our favorite city/town has been Sedona, AZ. We love eating out at any venue that has live music, preferably outdoors. Wintering in the Florida Keys is the best! We still have not travelled to the PNW, doing so this summer, so ask me again at the end of the year and my answers may change 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When we were contemplating this lifestyle, I became a member of Full-Time Families. This is a wonderful community of like-minded people who travel the country as we do. They answered so many of our questions, calmed some fears, and really motivated us to take the jump.
