We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Lorance and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to give you some background to the journey that led me to where I am today. I have lived all over the United States and abroad. I have my Masters in Business. I am grateful for my degree as it has helped me logically decide if starting my own business was feasible.

I love art and the joy it brings. My artistic style has been learned all over the world.

I have a passion for hats and wanted to create my own hat collective for the women that fearlessly chase their dreams and want to look good doing it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The shift from corporate into hat design was to fulfill my desire to make items that weren’t just beautiful to the eye, but brought a smile to faces as well.

The Lord is a big part of mine and my families life. My faith led me to understanding, and to find joy again. Today my faith and love for the Lord also inspires my designs; I challenge myself to design fashion statements that: can help you heal from loss, connect with a friend on a deeper level, smile more, have bigger faith and pay forward light and love!

My collection is fun fashion infused with the old west; bold statements for men and women that march to the beat of their own drum and whose fashion choices answer to no one.

With the ever growing popularity of boho western and trucker hats and hat bars it has been challenging to keep ahead of the game and set us apart from other businesses. What sets Desert Bloom Hats apart is that our reach is nationwide and not just a local focus. We are currently sold in 31 boutiques/hair salons around the country. We have plans of going Internationally in 2024. We are the only award winning hat designer in Phoenix area in hat category. We were recently approached by someone who will be the focus of a Netflix series beginning filming this year. She has asked Desert Bloom Hats to design hats for her to wear during the series.

We offer in person and virtual hat bars. What is a hat bar you might ask?
1. Choose a hat

They are made of poly wool blend, wool, suede, cotton and are adjustable

2. Select a hat band style

We offer ribbon, leather, suede and fabric bands. Stack them, build them, or braid them for a desired look

3. Accessorize your hat

Add bling, a chain, Concho, feathers, etc
ask us about branding, burning, hat tattoos and embroidery

We want the world to know that we do not repeat our designs because our customers are one of a kind. We will continue to maintain our quality and great customer service as well as attention to design.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the desert botanical gardens in downtown Phoenix as well as the hole in the rock hike at sunset. I would take my guests there followed by dinner at the sicilian butcher.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could never have had the success I have had without the incredible support of my family and friends. My husband and my son regularly help me at events as well as my mother. The 3 of them are at the heart of what makes Desert Bloom Hats the success it has been and will continue to be. I am eternally grateful for all of their love and support.
