We had the good fortune of connecting with Jill Diffendaffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jill, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It started off with friends asking me to help them decorate their homes and encouraging me to use my skills to help others. I have never thought of myself as a business owner, but looking at it from the perspective of helping someone else love their home made me take the leap. Throughout the years several people have told me they are overwhelmed when they think of putting a space together. It can feel like a daunting task when you aren’t sure where to start. When I look at a space to decorate it energizes me, I love bringing a space to life. My goal for every home is for it to feel welcoming and inviting to everyone who enters it, from the moment they walk in there is peace and comfort.
I want to be in the business of helping clients feel comfortable in their own homes and that each home reflects who they are as individuals. If I can help someone put the pieces together and help them have their own little haven at home that’s something I want to be a part of.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background is in the public relations and marketing fields. I had the opportunity to plan several events, launch brands, fashion shows and host designer appearances. I love the planning of events, executing big projects, and seeing the vision come to life. I think that pertains to design in a huge way. When you are working with a client helping them to see the big picture when they aren’t sure where to start is incredibly helpful. That’s where Haven Roese Design comes in, we can put together a space, make it feel cohesive and take the stress off the client.
I think the most helpful thing to do in any profession is to always be learning and growing.
The thing I am most proud of is my work ethic and communication. I want each client to be happy with their design and truly feel like this is a space they can come home to each day and not only be proud of, but FEEL at home in.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since Spring Training is coming up, I would definitely take them to a Spring Training game and then we would probably eat and drink our way through Downtown Chandler. They have great restaurants and bars, San Tan Brewery is a favorite.
If friends were in town for the week we would have to take a day trip to Sedona to show them the beautiful scenery and do some hiking. Then spread out the other days with Downtown Gilbert, which is another must for food options and then shopping at San Tan Mall. And then of course a night of comedy, My husband and I enjoy going to comedy shows! We like to take friends to Stand Up Live in Phoenix or the Tempe Improv. We love Barrio Queen for food and drinks before heading to the Tempe Improv!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My incredible friends and husband who encourage me every step of the way. Having friends and family who encourage you to step outside your comfort zone, take risks and give advice is something I don’t take for granted.
