We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Dueck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joe, how does your business help the community?
As a business, we have been purposeful in creating and adding to the community of the Prescott area. Our mission is to serve good coffee while creating a safe, fun and comfortable environment to everyone that steps up to the trailer!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think the positive vibes and good energy that surrounds us and our business is what often sets us apart. We really try to meet people where they are and when our customers make connections with each other in line and become friends, it’s the best thing that could happen for us.
Getting to where we are was a challenge: we started up about a month before the Covid pandemic started so we faced a challenge instantly. But we just basically gave people a space to connect when the world was choosing to disconnect and it stuck. We gained a fast following with some clever marketing, targeted social media campaigns and working at getting us into local events and markets to draw from a bigger crowd.
Our specific brand leans heavily on local ideas: Prescott is a big outdoor community. Hiking, mountain biking, camping, climbing… you name it, Prescott likes to be outside! Focusing our brand around a camping lifestyle (our coffee trailer is literally a retrofitted teardrop style camper!) is very on brand for us. We use local ingredients in our syrups and flavors and we focus on community whether it’s becoming involved in local events or maintaining a steady space for people to feel comfortable in.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So we’d probably stay near our downtown whether in some funky, historic Airbnb or right on Whisky Row in the Grand Highland Hotel. We’d have breakfast at three different spots: Bear and Dragon (rad little library themed restaurant) Salt and Pepper (best scratch-made menu in town) and then at the County Seat overlooking the Courthouse Square. We would paddle board the lakes (Watson for some boulders and the unique scenery and Goldwater for the forest vibes) So many rad trails around to bike on and hike through so that would be in the cards as well. Great dinner spots include BiGa for some fresh local vibes, Bills for some classic pizza (eat it on the Courthouse lawn!) and Lazy G for the best beers and bar food in town. Summer concerts on the lawn are a must and we’d hit up places like the Point or La Planchada for some late night drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My brilliant wife, Lanna and our two boys Kai and Aven. Also to Eric, the Dude, and other savvy business owners we’ve bumped into along the way.
