We had the good fortune of connecting with John Costello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks leads to new opportunities, some successful… some not so much. Throughout my life, I have enjoyed challenges and trying new things. From the young age of 5, I have been involved in music, studying piano and organ then expanding to percussion and drums in high school. I became an adept keyboard player and drummer which led to touring across the country with a variety of bands and even overseas for the USO. Music was and still is my passion. I started producing artists and composing original compositions in the late 80s which led to publishing music for film, television and all types of media. In 2015, along with my partner and beautiful wife, Jennifer, we launched JC3 Media Music. Starting a brand a new company in such a fierce, competitive industry was a huge risk. But we are thrilled to be part of it as we have become a trusted source and “go to” for a variety of clientele.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been working in the music industry for decades, and starting my own business was no easy feat. For many years, I was a creative involved in projects for other companies, and having that background made the path obvious in starting JC3 Media Music. I learned a great deal from my previous experiences, which gave me insight and the initiative to move forward with starting my own publishing company. I already had extreme success with my music but felt that I could help break out other artists and find amazing talent to work with through formation of the new company. My skills as a producer and ear for finding fresh and upcoming performers made me the perfect fit for selecting music for the JC3 brand. My in-depth knowledge of the music publishing industry as well as proficiency in musical production, engineering, mixing and mastering, makes me a huge asset and indispensable partner. JC3 Media Music has had ongoing successes since inception, placing music in an array of top shows and films. Latest placements include an end credit in “For Life” (ABC), music in the film “Bad Hair” (Hulu), and most recently Tyler Perry’s “Bruh” among others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The weather in Arizona is just the bomb, and the Sonoran Desert is gorgeous. I love to take our Jeep Rubicon to the back hills of Rio Verde and check out the wild horses at the river. We don’t get visitors these days due to COVID-19, but certainly look forward to the time when our families and friends can join us for some R&R. I would take them to Lou Malnati’s in Scottsdale for pizza or hang out at the Four Seasons on the patio to look at the night sky.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my wife, Jennifer, for all of the support, love and encouragement she has given me for all these years. She is my rock (along with God), and we make an incredible team.
