Meet Joniqué Beach | Paddleboard rental shop owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joniqué Beach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joniqué, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success of myself and my brand/company would be my transparency. I wanted my business to be a reflection of myself and what I stand for. Very family based and all about exploring nature while creating memories with those close to you and letting go of the world around you so you can just being in the moment. With the world of social media and never knowing if what you see is real or filtered I wanted to just be me, show up as myself every day and and I think that refreshing change made it easier for people to connect with me and feel comfortable. People like real.
What should our readers know about your business?
I would say getting to where I am was easy when I think of how much fun I have had over the years but then I think back to not even knowing what to type into Google to find a form to start an LLC and it reminds me how much work went into getting here! I think half the love I have for my business if because I had to take the steps and do it to make it real and I’ll always cherish the work that went into it!
The paperwork was hard but making connections with customers/renters was easy and exhilarating! Summer in Az is hard with the heat, exploring outside in 115° isn’t always top of the list, so my business was born through loving to explore while being on the water! When people rent Paddleboards from me they are usually looking for an adventure! I get to be a key part of them trying something new and making memories with friends or family!
I am honestly so proud of my customers, many of them have fears of stepping out of their comfort zones and they are taking their first steps with me out on the water and I feel so much pride when I see their photos or hear their experiences. They support me and share my business with others and that means so much to me.
Something that I wasn’t expecting but was very easy is that my business is very Instagramable (is that a word) it’s IG worthy, beautiful sunsets, wild horses along the river, and calming nature scenery is easy to post to Instagram and with each persons post by business is shared and grows! So marketing is done for me by others love for their experience!
I try to set myself apart from other companies that do about the same thing by just being myself. Small, family based business that wants others to try something new! Not perfect but learning and having fun while we do it! Some of the people I have met through working have become close friends and I owe that to the community and trust that is built!
I have learned that if you love something and want to turn it into a business then you don’t always get to do the part that you love as often as you would like. A challenge I had to figure out was how I can love my job and still make time to enjoy the parts that I love so I don’t end up resenting my passions! It was hard and many days I spent cleaning paddleboard after others adventures instead of making my own. But through balance I was able to keep my passion while still working.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an extreme introvert and a creature of habit! I know, it doesn’t line up with my business at all but I make it work! So when I think of what I would like to do with a friend around the city I kinda have to laugh and draw a blank.
I know for a fact each night would end with movie nights, game nights, and ice cream from Jeremia’s while laughing till early morning hours!
During the day I would definitely visit the salt river and if it wasn’t cold then take them paddleboarding! Hiking trails, swimming, going to a nail salon even though I would pick off the polish within a week, eating at sushi and pasta but mainly I’m a home body. I love just visiting and letting the day pass by.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh this is easy, my family. Hands down I would not of done this as easily if I didn’t have the support of my husband, he has been there through every step encouraging me, giving me ideas on how to make a thought become reality. He is the brains behind the technology side, the muscle when I need help loading, and the calm mind when I’m spiraling by taking on too much. He has done more than he will ever know to support me in this journey. My kids are my drive, I want them to experience the world and know they can make any dream a reality with hard work. My parents and siblings for being vocally supportive, when you are a small business every “good job” from family is a huge boost for me to keep going! Lastly a donation by someone who wants zero credit but they saw the big picture and wanted my dreams to begin right away and they believed in me!
