We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordin Margraves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordin, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision that I made for myself other than starting up my own business , was developing new habits and focusing on how to truly better other people’s lives. By developing new habits, I was able to re-align myself towards my goals and dreams and create a successful pathway to my 5 year business success effectively. Developing new habits and focusing on bettering myself gave me the momentum that I needed to establish my business and feel confident in training other people to have careers. This is a lot of responsibility to have on your shoulders because you are given the opportunity to enhance the lives of other people. By focusing on other peoples lives and truly hoping for their success, I felt confident in sharing my experience and knowledge with years of trainings internationally. In essence, this pushed me to startup my training academy and create a business training that allowed me to provide incredible, important knowledge pertaining to successfully starting up, owning and operating a business with no prior experience needed!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am the owner and CEO of Advanced Cosmetics Salon and Training Academy located in Vancouver, Washington. I also have a Podcast that I started last year that I hope to reach women and men all over the world who have interest in the permanent cosmetic industry. I am in the middle of writing a book; How To Manifest Your Beauty Business in 365 Days, and am on the path of becoming a speaker for Permanent Makeup conferences all over the United States. I started my company 5 years ago becoming a Microblading artist and that path led me to build a company that I am now training students all over the United States and mentoring them to start up, own, and operate a successful beauty business. I received my degree in college for art, and have always held an eye for the cosmetic industry however prior to this, I was a stay at home mom partially owning a construction company where we would buy houses, remodel, and flip them. When my relationship ended in 2018 and I became a single mother, I realized I needed to start up a company that allowed me enough time and freedom to raise my two little girls. I flew to Los Angeles and trained with one of the best trainers in the country and never looked back. I now train men and women all over to own a 7 figure beauty business through complete consistency and proper business structural formation. This was not an easy avenue to take, especially having two little girls but once I had my “why” figured out as to why I wanted this so bad, I went full throttle. This is something I teach my students in my academy; how important it is to figure out your “why” behind every action and pathway you decide to take in life. This is the power, drive, and momentum you will use to become successful and be consistent. I spent many hours researching, taking business classes. and teaching myself to successfully own and operate a company. I own a salon that houses about 6-7 girls that do either permanent cosmetics, lashes. teeth whitening, tooth gems, botox/fillers, facials, waxing, ect.

I have won one of the biggest awards for the county I live in Washington for; Best Cosmetic Salon 2021 and I recently just won a huge international award representing the west coast for; Best Permanent Makeup Salon that held a huge award ceremony in London. I am accredited with and am in the process of becoming a trainer for AAM; American Academy of Micropigmentation representing the United States.

Last July I had a major accident in which I fell off the roof of my house 19 feet which landed me in the hospital for 1 month receiving major surgery and a wheel chair for 6 months. I taught myself how to walk again in November and was in my salon performing procedures on clients one month from being out of the hospital. I held trainings in my academy out of my wheel chair and never stopped working because of my accident. its a complete miracle I am even alive, well with no brain injuries, and walking. I am sharing this story because, this is something that unknowingly inspired hundreds and thousands all over the world. I talk about this openly on my podcast, social media platforms, have conducted interviews, podcasts, and even have a book being written right now on my survival and how I overcame this major obstacle. A huge tragedy I survived pushed me to fullest potential and allowed me to continue moving forward in a positive direction that did not alter my dreams, goals, and visions I had for myself, children, business, and life. The brand of my salon, academy, and podcast represents strength, redemption, and empowerment; I utilize these platforms to truly inspire, uplift, encourage, and raise up women and men all over the world. No matter what life or the world throws at you. you still hold the power to overcome any obstacle and beome the best version of yourself!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love the area, this place is truly a fulfilled adventure waiting to happen. Phoenix is known for its amazing views like from Camelback Mountain but you cant beat eating at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. Tom’s Thumb Trail Located near Scottsdale, AZ, Tom’s Thumb Trail is a four mile adventure that lends itself to beautiful views of the McDowell Mountains, this is truly a breathtaking hike that I highly recommend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success was encouraged and supported by my entire family and all of my friends. ‘ The Vision Driven Leader” by Michael Hyatt is a book that I read that provided me with more knowledge pertaining to being a leader to others while successfully achieving your goals. I originally started my career by a close friend who initially did my brows as a service in Los Angeles; Lucy Hart. She became a friend and truly inspired me and helped push me towards this career!
