Meet JP Mullan | GM Mavrix

We had the good fortune of connecting with JP Mullan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JP, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
We have a couple of surprising offerings that sets us apart. First we have amazing attractions with an arcade, billiards, VR and laser tag plus a revolutionary bowling system called Spark. The Spark system puts images on the lanes and the ball reacts with the images for an augmented reality bowling experience! We also have an amazing food and drinks at Mavrix. My favorite item on the menu is the blueberry pizza that has Prosciutto, Goat Cheese, Grilled Onions, Fresh Blueberries, Baby Arugula, and Honey. We also have a great craft beer, whiskey and signature cocktail list.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There have been plenty of challenges in the past but nothing has been more challenging than 2020. We hired 150 staff members for the opening of Mavrix on March 7th. We closed after 11 days on March 17th. We had to let most of our staff members go and then bring everyone back in May. We reopened on May 22nd and have seen a slow gradual increase in business. Not only did we reopen but we had to change so much of our business to be covid safe. We added partitions between lanes and restaurant booths, redid floor plans and seating arrangements to encourage more social distancing. We also added numerous different safety guidelines and training protocols to keep employees and customers safe.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I would have to say Mavrix obviously but what a lot of people don’t know is that Mavrix and Octane Raceway are connected so I would probably start at Octane for a couple of races then go over to Mavrix for a great dinner and to watch some sports on the patio on the 20′ jumbotron TV.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dad has been a huge inspiration to me. He has always supported me and shown me the best path for life.
