We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Mendez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I found a need. People all around me kept having the same issue and weren’t finding solutions that truly satisfied their problem.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At WeedSociety we are focused on the Net Benefit of our work. We want to make sure we are truly providing value to the industry and our community. I have had the opportunity to work for and with businesses across the spectrum and it has given me the insight into what I want to be and what I don’t want to be.

Growing is never easy, regardless of the domain. If what you’re doing is easy, is it really making you grow? What has helped me the most over time is taking a step back, breathing, and then reassessing what the next bite size chunk I could accomplish is.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I feel like I am partially and amphibian, I would take them to the water. Wether its wake surfing or paddle boarding, anything in or on the water is my go to vacation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Where to begin… I am extremely thankful to my parents for raising me in a way that taught me the value of hard work and to never quit, and those values were only more reinforced during my time in the military.

Entrepreneurship is a tough and lonely road, even though it is the only path I can see myself taking, my fiancé Shanon has been such a blessing. Keeping me grounded and not letting me feel sorry for myself when things get tough.

I could go on, because every person I have met in my professional life has imparted something of value to me. wether it be in good intention or bad.
