We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaeley Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaeley, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I love making people feel good. I grew up dealing with self conscious issues with my face and body, and was the subject of bullying in grade school, so for a long time I didn’t feel beautiful. I love having the opportunity to make others feel good, and improve their self confidence. I love being able to transform others into the person they’ve imagined in their head, wether it’s with an edgy hair cut or a bright, vivid color. I’m also just passionate about creating art, in any form.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love doing creative & transformational cuts & color! Wether it’s a neon vivid color, a fade, taking your long locks to a short pixie, or an edgy shag/mullet, I’m your girl. I’m so excited to continue to meet more cool clients, and be able to create art on them and help them to be their most confident selfs. I feel like the alternative hair I do sets me apart because I don’t see a lot of people in the state of Arizona primarily doing alternative cuts & color! I’ve worked at a few salons and each has taught me different things in the hair industry and I’m thankful for everything I’ve learned along the way, and every person that’s helped me get to where I am today.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally I’m a Central Phoenix kind of girly for a lot of things. I love to check out local events, wether it’s a rave , an art show, a flea market or a concert. I would definitely take them bar hopping on roosevelt row, and end the night on a Saturday at emo night at the Rebel Lounge. I would also love to take them to Walter Studios in Central Phoenix for some EDM and good dancing vibes. We definitely would go thrift hopping too, I frequent a lot of local thrift stores, there’s too many to choose from but Mondays is usually when I go thrift hopping and I’ll definitely always hit up savers because everything is half off on Mondays! I also would take them to Shady Park in Tempe cause I love the venue and the vibes there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There has been multiple mentors I’ve had through my life, including Amber Pope, Paco Lechner, and Meaghan Gingrich. Each of them I’ve learned different skill sets from and I’m thankful for all of them, for turning me into the stylist I am today. Wether it was a precision haircut, mastering lightening services, setting boundaries behind the chair, or whatever I may have needed help with, they were always there to show their guidance.
