We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaili Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaili, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
The concept of work/life balance is a tricky one. On the one hand, when your “work” is something that feels like a part of you — your passion, your mission, your why — it’s sort of impossible to leave that behind when transitioning out of work and “into life.” For me, the lines are a little blurrier than just shutting off my computer and getting on with my day. However, I’ve gotten a lot better at not responding to emails outside of my working hours, not taking phone calls that pertain to work when I’m not working, and not bringing the stress of work into all of my other relationships. I think it’s important to establish “weekends off” for yourself even if they’re not the traditional Saturday/Sunday. Days where you ONLY do things that bring you joy, help you relax, and have nothing to do with making money or building your business. One thing I’m excited to implement this year is “PTO.” I’m forcing myself to not only take Federal Holidays off but to take at least 2 full weeks’ worth of normal working days off just like I would if I were an employee. We’ll see how it goes!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my writing career in the magazine world before transitioning into a thought capital role with a global investment firm (yes, it was as exciting as it sounds). After 18 months in corporate marketing and 6 months of freelance writing on the side, I booked a trip to Europe and officially started my journey as a business owner (the trip was my way of celebrating my newfound freedom). My background in journalism and marketing truly set me up to be successful in the copywriting world. Marketing and sales are all about connection, storytelling, and creating trust — those are 3 foundational pillars of journalism as well, and mastering them has allowed me to harness the best of both worlds to create massive sales for my clients.
Reveal Studio Co. believes that by telling your story in a powerful, strategic way we can help your brand or business reach new audiences and hold tight to the ones it already has. We do this through web copy, email marketing, sales pages, and brand naming (our favorite).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is SO MUCH to do around the Phoenix area, but let’s pretend it’s mid-October and the weather is that perfect combo of gorgeous warm sun and a crisp breeze. We have 3 days to explore The Valley starting on Friday — here’s what’s going down.
Friday:
– Morning visit to The Botanical Gardens
– Lunch at Culinary Dropout
– Walk around Kiwanis Park in Tempe to work off our food
– Catch the sunset at The Hole In The Rock
Saturday:
– Morning hike in the Superstition Mountains
– A big lunch at Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe
– Evening Top Golf where we’ll obviously order wings (and they have the best Moscow Mules)
Sunday:
– Head up north to grab brunch at Hash Kitchen before a Cardinals game
– Catch an afternoon game at State Farm Stadium
– Cap the night with a nice dinner at The Henry in Scottsdale
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the community and support of other service providers in the online space, I probably would’ve given up a long time ago. I’m really lucky to have built such a strong group of hardworking, kind, and supportive women who are always there for me when I need them. These women have become my go-tos when things are hard and when things are really good (because finding people to celebrate with you is just as important!). You know who you are, but I want to specifically give a virtual hug & THANK YOU to Kierra White my amazing brand designer, Chandler Holsapple my lawyer, and Nina Marinaro another lawyer who provides so much love and laughter to my days.
