We had the good fortune of connecting with Kassandra Brissette Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kassandra Brissette, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision that has contributed to my artistic journey and success is accepting the power to manifest my own destiny. Growing up, I feel like society has always undervalued artists, so making the decision to become a professional content creator seemed illogical at the time, but once I made the decision with certainty and dedication, my dreams have truly started to become reality.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is KBR (Kassandra Brissette Ramirez), and I am a photographer and artist born and raised in Arizona. When creating, I am often inspired by nature, femininity, and our divine connection to Mother Earth. Although I have been creating my whole life, my artistic progress grew substantially in 2018 when I started Contagion Media (contagionmedia.net).
Contagion Media is an art platform where artists showcase and sell their art. Our mission is to break the starving artist stereotype and help artists break artistic boundaries. Since dedicating my life to this passion project, I have seen immense growth in my personal work. Constantly collaborating with artists of all mediums is necessary for growth. It is truly amazing how much inspiration thrives in the art community here in Arizona.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend were to visit Arizona, the first place I would take them to is Northern Arizona. I studied creative media & film and photography for college in Flagstaff, and that area of the state brings me a lot of inspiration and peace. The natural beauty of the mountains there are out of this world, so it’s always the first place I think of when sharing my favorite parts of Arizona.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicated this shout out to artists everywhere with the passion in their hearts to keep creating. Although it may not seem like it, living life as a working artist is possible and obtainable with hard work and dedication. Nothing worth having is ever easy, but the reward of creating to support yourself is definitely worth the efforts. I hope that I can help inspire other local creatives to fearlessly follow their dreams with my work.
