Meet Kathy Baggett | Director of Catering

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Baggett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I have a deep passion for planning events, especially weddings, but as a wife and mother of two boys, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential to me. Given the nature of my job, I often work Fridays, Saturdays, and many evenings. To counter this, I prioritize scheduling extra time off during slower periods and ensure I take time off each week to reset and recharge.
Years ago, I made the decision to limit evening tours to just one night a week, which has helped me avoid staying late every evening. I also stopped scheduling tours and appointments on Sundays unless I’m already committed to an event. These changes have been incredibly beneficial in helping me avoid spreading myself too thin while still doing what I love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a successful wedding and event planner for 16 years. Last year, I accepted an incredible opportunity to join Century Golf as the Director of Catering for Verrado Golf Club and The Vic Bar + Kitchen. My years of experience in events have allowed me to effectively sell, manage, and produce successful events across multiple properties. The ability to oversee multiple events simultaneously, while coordinating with various teams, is a skill that has been honed through years of dedication and experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d plan an unforgettable trip showcasing the best of Arizona. I am lucky enough to have done everything on this list. Arizona is such a fun and beautiful place to live.
Day 1: We’d kick things off with a visit to the Grand Canyon, stopping in Sedona for a delicious meal and breathtaking views along the way.
Day 2: We’d spend the day unwinding at The Vic Spa with hydro facials and massages, then cap it off by watching the sunset over dinner at The Vic Bar + Kitchen.
Day 3: We’d take on the challenge of hiking Camelback Mountain, followed by a well-deserved meal at T. Cooks at The Royal Palms.
Day 4: We’d explore the charming shops in Cave Creek, then enjoy dinner at Buffalo Chip Saloon and Steakhouse while watching the bull riding.
Day 5: We’d head out for a boat cruise on Lake Pleasant and grab a bite to eat at Scorpion Bay for beautiful lakeside dining.
Day 6: We’d stroll through the Desert Botanical Garden and the serene Japanese Friendship Garden, finishing the day with dinner at Roaring Fork.
Day 7: For the perfect ending, we’d relax poolside at my house, sipping drinks and soaking up the sun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jacque Dearing with TWW Florals was my business partner for 12 wonderful years. The experiences and achievements we shared taught me so much and played a significant role in shaping my success in my current role
