Meet Katie Jeffers | Licensed PTA, Certified Personal Trainer, Owner of Body By Katie LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Jeffers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance has definitely been a challenge when I started Body By Katie LLC wellness services. I am also a personal trainer, and my wellness business is out of our training studio because the two go hand-in-hand. I became booked up very quickly when I began my business with both wellness clients and training clients, so I was grinding it out with client after client for 10-12 hours per day, while also advertising for myself, having no employee to help, and taking any down time to focus on my business. At first, I was working 7 days a week, taking any clients that asked to book with me, until I became in high demand, I realized it was time to take a step back and give myself 2 days off per week, because I was becoming exhausted. Not that I am complaining whatsoever because my business has been thriving, but I was forgetting about my own self-care, my own life with my fiance, my family and my friends. Fast forward almost 3 years later, I have an employee who can take on some clients, I have 2 days off, which I spend not being on my phone or doing business things like I used to, enjoying the time and being “present”, instead of my head always being in my work!

What should our readers know about your business?
Body By Katie LLC wellness services consists of assisted stretching, myofasical release cupping and muscle scraping, while also being employed as a certified personal trainer at My Way Fitness, but my business is performed out of our training studio. My training clients are separate from my wellness clients. What sets me apart and what I am most proud of is my journey to get to this point. After 6.5 years of college and post grad, I graduated as a Licensed Physical Therapist Asst., I immediately became a traveling therapist all over Arizona, then got a part-time job at a stretch studio, which helped narrow down that while I enjoyed these two, it was not what I wanted to do long-term. I didn’t want to travel anymore for work, or work for a franchise company any more. I decided that I would take what I have learned, learn more with continuing education and apply it into a small business that is minutes from my home, and make my own schedule. While is was not easy starting from scratch, very quickly I built a business where I am booked out for weeks because these wellness services are hard to find, which led me to hiring my first employee this year. I am grateful to have had so many opportunities career-wise that helped structure my business.
Lessons I have learned along the way is you cannot do it alone, it takes a village that supports you and your passion to help you succeed along the way. Time is valuable, while starting a business can take up 24/7 of your time, remember to make time for yourself most importantly, and your loved ones.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my fiance, Jason has been my biggest supporter and mentor throughout this process. He fully supports my business, my personal training, and the amount of time I took and still take to full invest myself into business. While things weren’t always easy, he was there to help guide me in how to handle starting a business, teaches me daily on how to calm my stress from being in high demand, and most importantly, understands why I do what I do – because I love what I do and it makes me happy. I would not be where I am today without him. My friends, my family, my colleagues and my clients, thank you for always being supportive and understanding, my business would not be where it is today! I appreciate all of you, and for trusting my wellness services to help your lives, injuries, and fitness journeys, too.
