We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been interested in photography, video editing and also cooking. I wanted to become a chef. However, helping others is also my passion, that’s why I became a nurse (professionally). I told my friends, I can be a nurse and also do what I love. I started creating content few years ago. Some videos went viral and then I started getting offers and brand deals. Being in different platforms and creating content such as cooking is my creative outlet and to connect to my community (Filipino, moms preparing meals and just cooking in general). Content creating gives me purpose, it makes me happy and it inspires me to create more content for my community.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ever since I became a mother, I decided to work part-time so I can take care of my family. We work long hours (12 hours) at the hospital, so, I only work twice a week. Being a part-time employee, it allowed me to do my hobbies while my son was at school. I started filming what I cook, where we eat and what I eat. Hence, my screen name, eat with Katrina. I used my phone and a free video editing application to film and edit my videos. I learned everything from other content creators because nowadays, you can learn everything online. The content that I post online reflects our culture, motherhood and meal prepping. I like to inspire others and showcase Filipino food.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the most scenic places in Arizona such as Sedona and Grand Canyon. I suggests hiking the Devil’s bridge and the 7 sacred pools. I would also take them to Page, AZ and see the Horseshoe Bend and the Lower Antelope. Foodwise, I would take them to my favorite taco place in Tacos Tijuana.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my husband for being my number one supporter since day one. I couldn’t have done these things without him. He supported me when I went to nursing school and now that I create content online.
