We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Clinton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Becoming a first-time mother can be an overwhelming experience, especially when transitioning back to work. This was the situation I found myself in after having my first child, which is why I considered becoming a doula. After training as a full spectrum doula, I was equipped with the knowledge to create a postpartum plan that ensured a smoother transition when I had my second child. My personal experience has led me to develop five focus areas that moms can use to create their own plan when transitioning back to work. These areas include Physical Recovery, Emotional Adjustment, Feeding Challenges, Sleep Deprivation, and Childcare. Following these focus areas enabled me to return to work with confidence and ease, and now work/life balance is in alignment and doesn’t bring anxiety or stress.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I understand firsthand the importance of feeling supported and empowered during the birthing process. This is why I founded our company, which has become a trusted source of support for expectant mothers and families not only in Arizona but many other states on the west coast and in Ga.

At Spiritual Garden Healing Doula Services, we believe that every individual deserves to have a positive and empowering experience during childbirth. Our approach is grounded in the belief that each person’s experience is unique, and we strive to offer tailored care that meets the unique needs and circumstances of each individual. We offer a range of services, from prenatal education to postpartum support, to ensure that our clients receive comprehensive care throughout their entire childbirth journey.

One thing that sets us apart from other doula services is our focus on community building and ensuring that BIPOC individuals who are underserved or unable to reach quality maternal care can receive the support they need. We are committed to improving maternal health outcomes, and we do this through advocacy, leadership, and raising awareness about important issues, such as maternal mortality and healthcare disparities.

We are proud to be a trusted source of support for expectant mothers and families. At Spiritual Garden Healing Doula Services, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care that empowers individuals to have positive and transformative childbirth experiences.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Join me for a day packed with exciting activities!

First, we’ll head to Glendale’s Tangled Root, my favorite tea spot, and grab my go-to beverage, Spunky Monkey.

Next, we’ll check out the outdoor fair organized by my preferred event planner, REP YOUR BRAND.

Afterwards, we’ll hit up Resale Therapy in Tempe and shop until we drop!

Later, we’ll indulge in massages by my friend at Busy Hands Aromatherapy and Massage.

Finally, we’ll spend the rest of the day exploring the scenic beauty of Sedona and Flagg staff.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
At the core of my mission is serving marginalized communities and establishing relationships with Arizona birth workers of color. Thanks to the support and education provided by the Cihuapactli Collective, I can reach BIPOC individuals in need of maternal care.
