Meet Kaylie Flores | Licensed Hairstylist & Certified Piercer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylie Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is that, success is what you make it, and it looks so different for everyone. As professional stylist, this industry is always changing and its vital to keep working hard on improving your craft, while maintaining a deeper level of trust with your clients. I always strive to create an experience and environment that my clients feel at-home in. It’s okay for your business to change and adapt to your clients wants and needs and this is why success looks different for everyone. Growth is a huge factor; I am continuously looking for the newest ways to provide new and quality services to all my clients from behind the chair.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have always had a passion for hair and a love for people, what a blessing to be able to put the two together. When I started hair, I wasn’t sure where my career would take me and if you told me I would be where I am now, I would never believe you. Eight years ago, I was full time single mother of a 2-year-old and a full time Cosmetology student at Paul Mitchel the School Spokane; but being a working mom was not only a challenge, but it has been a major triumph. Fast forward to now, I have been behind the chair for eight years, and I just opened my own private Salon Suite, Kbee Hair Co. I’m so passionate about my job and absolute highlight of what I do, is the People. I get to help so many amazing people feel confident about themselves with a customized new hairstyle, facial waxing, or a new piercing. Those are just a few of the services I provide at Kbee Hair Co. If anyone is looking for a full menu or a breakdown on pricing, They can pop onto the website, check out all my available services and use the online booking feature.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I am ready to relax and do something fun, I will visit a new place to eat or one of the Valleys popular spots. We would grab a meal at my all-time favorite place to fast food is Chic-fil-a but if we are in the mood for a sit-down meal I will head down to Park West and grab an artisan pizza from Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, but Birria tacos are really at the top of my must have list! We would have to swing over to Zero Degrees for a Mangonada; this is one of my favorite summer drinks. I love the sunshine too; we could hit nearest the pool too or water park to enjoy some down with the kids. I enjoy the outdoors and love hiking the Steps of Verrado, but there are so many other trails to take in all the scenery the area has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been so many contributing factors in my success in the last 8 years as a hairstylist; this goes all the way back to Cosmetology School. But in all honesty, I have always been a “go-getter.” I have pushed myself and always looked for ways to be bigger and be my own version successful, not only in my business and but also in my personal life. Of course, my clients get some of the credit for propelling me to dig deeper in my career. They have always encouraged me in any new ideas and to take the necessary risks to push my business to the next level. Another huge contributor to success is my Family, they are always in my corner. No matter what direction my career or life has gone, they have always encouraged me to be my best self and an even better Hairstylist.
