We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor to my career is extensive education. I am always taking extra courses outside of the salon to improve my craft even further to ensure I am giving my clients the absolute best and most up to date in hair fashion. You can always learn something new, even if its a course you have taken before, to refresh your skill and have a better perspective on hair. This is an industry that is constantly evolving so it’s crucial that you are keeping up. My goal one day is to become an educator myself and to help others in the beauty industry to expand their skill set and knowledge. There is truly nothing better than filling your notebook with new color formulas or head sheets and growing excited to introduce these new ideas to your clients!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I absolutely love being able to work with hair all day! It is truly a living art canvas. This industry is much more than hair, it’s being able to relate to others and spread joy through your expression. One aspect that I am most excited about is working with curly hair and educating clients on how to embrace their natural texture. Having curly hair myself, I 100% understand the learning curve of living with curly texture. Everything is different from how and when to wash your hair, getting a haircut without the dreaded triangle affect, or even sleeping with a silk pillowcase to reduce frizz. Textured hair requires a bit more TLC. One wish I have for others is to embrace your own beauty! You are unique and specially designed this way! Admire your freckles and dimples! Celebrate the way you hair twirls out and rises with humidity in the air! Love yourself!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you happen to be visiting Gilbert Arizona you absolutely must check out Mythical Coffee!! This coffee shop roasts their own beans and put a lot of love in their drinks!

Eating wise my husband and I are huge fans of Mediterranean cuisine, so Zorba’s in Chandler is always a date night favorite!

If you are expanding your travels outside of the east valley, Prescott and Bisbee are two places to definitely see. Prescott is such a beautiful area with loads to explore and take in. You don’t even feel like you are in the desert anymore with such lush greenery surrounding you.

Bisbee is an old mining town past Tucson rich with history. There is a museum in the middle of town featuring the history of copper mining that was prominent back in the day. It is a such a hidden jem this place!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give my deepest thanks to God, my family, friends, and clients who motivate me everyday to grow stronger and healthier. Thank you all so very much!
