Meet Kelly Miller | Blogger & Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, how do you think about risk?
I used to think that I was not a risk taker and that it was always good to play it safe. Starting my own business has definitely been a risk and I couldn’t be happier that I made the decision to go for it! Creating a business that you are in complete control of is exciting and a little stressful at times. It’s great to get out of my comfort zone, take those risks and see what happens. The times I have taken the risks has allowed me to grow personally and professionally.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2017, I had the desire to create a blog and share with others all about the desert. The blog eventually developed into a small business that now includes an e-commerce shop and a podcast. I love putting my time and energy into my business. It is so rewarding to connect with others and share all about food, fun and travel. People have enough stress in their lives and I have created a blog and social media presence that is a positive space. I want to continue to encourage people to travel and make the most of each day!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a definite planner and love showing friends around when they visit. When people visit Yuma, Arizona there are sights that they just have to see! A few of the top destinations are the Yuma Territorial Prison, Gateway Park to see the Ocean to Ocean Bridge and the stunning Colorado River and a hike is a must of Telegraph Pass. You can’t forget about the delicious food that is available in Yuma! Dining at El Charro for authentic Mexican food and JT Prime for a fabulous dinner are perfect stops to get a taste of what our city has to offer. A little history mixed in with good food and views calls for a great visit!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t have begun my business and have it where it is today without the support of my family. They have been with me every step of the way with encouragement to make it happen and not give up.
