We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendall, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I feel like my life is a non stop wild ride, my family and I are just trying to figure out the least bumpy route. When I started doing stained glass I never thought in a million years it would be a source of income for my family or myself. I feel fortunate and amazed that people have purchased my art pieces and like what I do! The best part I think is the fact that I’m able to work on my pieces a few hours out of the day and then spend the rest of my time with my daughter and husband.
Sometimes money is tight since I work slow on my pieces, but that time with my little one means the most.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started doing stained glass as a pass time. After I had my daughter I felt like I lost a piece of myself, my identity. When I would lay her down for naps/bed time I would sit on my phone and just doom scroll Reddit, Instagram and Facebook. It made me more depressed and feel as if I was missing out on something. Once I snapped out of it I started a hobby. I fell in love with stained glass, I opened back up this door in the art world and it’s been great.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m definitely a homebody. BUT, I love walking down the painted alley ways in the Coronado neighborhood in Phoenix and grabbing a coffee at Dark Hall Coffee.
A few other places I’d take a friend would be the Desert Botanical Garden and after that we might take a stroll in the Maple/Ash/Farmer neighborhood (where I live) down to Casey Moores Oyster house for a snack and nice cocktail.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh, absolutely! My Grandma Roberta.
She was a watercolor artist, I grew up going over to her house almost every evening after school and every weekend. She taught me how to draw, paint, shoot film and always encouraged me with anything I did. Her and I lost touch about 8 years ago, she passed in December of 2023. Wish we were able to get over our differences so she could have seen my pieces.
