Meet Keshava McLaughlin | Mediation, Sound, Yoga & Energy Work

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshava McLaughlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keshava, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
While MyTree Wellness offers a variety of healing services, it’s the addition of Certified Cannabis Yoga that I’ve been recently most excited about. Cannabis has been a big part of my healing journey and seeing the dialogue shift over the past years has been an amazing part of history to witness. Knowing that so many others are integrating plant medicine into their wellness journey, I knew the coming together of Cannabis and Yoga was a path I was looking to pursue. Up until recently I had only been working privately with MMJ patients but now with our state legalization and new consumption lounge permits we’ll be bringing group Ganja Yoga to a wider audience.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MyTree Wellness offers Meditation, Sound Therapy, Yoga & Energy Work. I hope that my offerings are able to help others discover what is draining or blocking their energy and introduce practices to begin a path of rediscovery, a return to our true nature. I’ve been a self-employed entrepreneur my entire life. From launching a successful Hot Sauce Brand, producing several Expos and owning Body Art Studios, a common thread throughout has been connecting with others and offering possibilities to grow and discover. As my life changed as a parent, finding a new path that fit seemed to blossom naturally. I had already been practicing and working with others, the time had come to expand upon that in the form of a private practice.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
While there is no shortage of amazing & rad things to do in Phoenix, I do have some favorites. We’d start the day with some coffee from MFG, everyone there is just so sweet and the coffee is tasty. We’d have to swing by Flight 420. As one of the earliest “consumption permit” locations and the site for some of my Ganja Yoga classes, enjoying a joint on their patio would be a must. Getting over to Chino Bandido is essential. I’ve been living here since 2015, but prior to that I never came to Phoenix without eating some Chino. On dinner plans, I must say the Dim Sum Menu at Jobot has been an absolute favorite over the past several months. Oh, and being we’re on that corner, we could pop in to Lacuna Kava for something relaxing, or energizing, depends on the feels. My favorite thing to do in any city is to take a leisurely stroll around just looking at everything. With the amazing art, wonderful people and beautiful buildings, Phoenix is a solid stroll.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would Shoutout Dee Dussault, author of Ganja Yoga and creator of the Ganja Yoga Certification Program. While the dialogue over cannabis has been very positive, it is still very much shifting and does continue to be a bit taboo in some circles. Putting together a comprehensive program that is recognized by Yoga Alliance offers an added “legitimacy” to the new view on Cannabis. I’m grateful to have connected with her and to currently be the only teacher in the state fully certified to facilitate Ganja Yoga classes.
