We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberleigh Adkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberleigh, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing that I believe I’ve done to make an impact on my children is giving them access to resources and information that I didn’t have growing up. Things like credit, Trust fund information,
Life insurance, steps that it takes to run a business and get your foot into different rooms. I want my kids to truly believe they can be whatever they want, Never limit yourself & that I’m in their corner 1,000% and making things come together.
Breaking generational curses and creating generational wealth!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First, My boutique “The DON Collection” is a women’s clothing line that covers sizes xs-3x. This boutique is my baby lol. In my fashions I just want people to feel like a boss! I want them to feel confident and know they are killing sh*t lol
I’m most excited about taking it to another level! Recently I’ve been planning on how to branch out and grow the business. All the signs are telling me that this is the next move. I’ve been patient and taking my time and I feel like that has truly paid off.
My goal is to open my first brick and mortar. Preferably in Georgia!
There has definitely been some challenges along the road because I was rushing and being impatient, not only with myself but with my business because I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. I changed my mindset and it’s been going up since.

Secondly, I am in the process of opening a home care agency in Philadelphia. My first love is in the medical field and I’ve been working in health care since 2014. I’ve decided to take the leap of faith and becoming the boss of my own health care entity vs. being a worker for one. I’m still going through the credentialing and licensing process. I’m not limiting myself on all I can do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I guess it really depends on what you consider a good time. Philly has so much history and food! Love park is a favorite of mines.
I would definitely take someone to the legendary King’s for a water ice & Pretzel, The Art Museum, Spend some time shopping downtown, hit up some night clubs and definitely find a comedy show or concert to go to. There is always an event happening in Philly.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always want to shout out my mom because she’s the bomb! She’s a fighter and overcame any obstacle that came in her way. She lets me know that all things are possible with God on my side. I was to thank my sister Imani for introducing me to this wonderful opportunity & being the best little sister a girl could ask for. We hit so many stages in life together & we’ll just keep progressing & winning!
Lastly, Just anybody that is currently in my life now because after years of figuring out was for me and not for me I can really say I have solid people around me and they know who they are ❤️
