We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamisha Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to start my own business as a way to start building my legacy for my son. Im building and learning so that I can teach him when he gets older.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ive always had a love for story telling. Be it a book, a movie, or even a song. I love getting lost in a good story. Seeing someone else’s perspective or way of life. This turned into a passion of mine. I bought a camera when I was pregnant with the intentions of documenting my pregnancy. That then turned into me starting my business, documenting other peoples special moments, and editing it for them to keep forever.
I took classes online to teach me everything I needed to know about the art of videography, and editing. It took lots of practice and studying of my craft but I believe I’ve finally figured out my “look” for my videos.I love helping people capture their special moments. Their reaction gives me so much joy.
At the beginning of the year I decided I wanted to go deeper with my videography. I created my first documentary on Dominant women and their children. It takes a dive into the stories of some women that are close to me, as they tell there stories of their triumphs and also their challenges. I also interviewed a trans man to be apart of the doc and give his insight. This was probably the highlight of my creative career this year.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my wife and son, its because of them that I go so hard. They push me to do better and to be better.
