We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, I’m a military wife and I was a new mom at the time. It’s your average “I want to be home with my baby” kind of story. I needed something flexible that I would be able to put down when we wanted to go out of town to visit family, or my son needed more attention, my husband was away, or if we moved to a new state, I could pick up and bring it with me. Being my own boss and making my own schedule has been such a blessing for my family and I’m so thankful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I actually haven’t seen anyone (in my local area) who creates the same items as me, I think that sets me apart here in my local community. I offer a variety of custom products from kid items, business signage, plaques/awards, and even wholesale apparel. I feel like I’m a fairly quick learner and when I put my mind to something I will give it everything I have. I’m a perfectionist and wouldn’t put out any items that I wouldn’t love myself. I’ve learned a lot about my time, my knowledge, and how that should reflect in my items. I think for the longest time I thought because something was “easy” to make and didn’t take much time meant I didn’t need to charge much, but what people don’t see is all the time spent learning, making mistakes, figuring out how to make it better, that’s all apart of the quality I’m going to put out.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooo, Well I am a huge homebody and my favorite things to do when I leave the house is to eat some really good food haha. So my suggestions might all be food related. Definitely would head to Sonoran House for some coffee! Their strawberry white chocolate latte is to die for! (Decaf for me since I gave up coffee over a year ago, shocking! haha) Taco Rico is our favorite taco truck here by far! Ding Tea (specifically the foothills location, shout out to them haha) is the best boba in Tucson, no one can tell me otherwise haha. Lastly, Ja Ramen has been our go-to for ramen and curry. I lived in Japan for 13 years so I’m pretty picky when it comes to ramen, but Ja Ramen downtown has impressed me for sure!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly it can’t just be one person. As someone who had to start over with their business when they moved here 2 years ago, this community of small business owners in Tucson is incredible! I opened shop, met some other local small business owners and everyone was so kind, welcoming, encouraging, and quick to share my business! Seriously so thankful for word of mouth and how loving everyone was.
