We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimi Booker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Why did I pursue a creative career? Picture this- we just moved to a new state, it’s a pandemic, everything has closed down and we’re trapped at home, and on top of that we’re battling infertility. It’s safe to say I was feeling pretty sad and negative about myself and the situation. Cue in Instagram. It started as just a hobby wanting to spread awareness of my favorite small businesses, especially during a time when small businesses were suffering. I was supporting them and their brands anyway, so might as well share about it. As the hobby grew, I was introduced to photo editing and my content gradually improved. I also realized that sharing my love for fashion blogging could generate another form of income. I continue to learn and improve my skills everyday while still maintaining a full-time career that I love. Fashion blogging has provided me with a fun outlet to distract me from my sadness, as well as helped improve my self-esteem by allowing me to see myself through another lens.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fashion blogging is the game and Kimi Booker is the name! But on a serious note, I love my career as a content creator, though it still comes secondary to my full-time career as a social service case manager. My love for advocating for families and for those without a voice shines through my daily life and my content, even while indirectly. And my love for fashion is shown just as much through my content creating. With both careers, I have a pretty hectic schedule, but also a pretty full heart to go right along with it and I wouldn’t change it for the world. My page brings forth positivity, modest fashion inspiration, helpful lifestyle and pet tips, and some pretty darn cute furbabies. I hope to one day also share more about our journey with infertility in order to be a resource for others and to provide support and encouragement.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We start the day at our favorite brunch spot, the Hen House Eatery, the one stop shop for the most delicious farm to table food for breakfast, dinner, or lunch, as well as a drink from the bar or a pastry from the bakery. Head on over to Mall of America that is an adventure in itself, even without stepping foot in any stores. Giant shopping centers aren’t your thing? Explore one of the many outdoor trails and waterfalls that Minnesota has to offer, including Minnehaha Park, Trails, and Falls and the Mississippi River. We may have it rough in the winter, but nothing compares to the beauty of Minnesota nature. Next let’s take a tour of Minneapolis on one of the popular Pedal Pubs! You heard that right; pedal your way through the city on a 10-12 person bike while drinking your favorite beverage. End the night dancing at one of the local bars. Some suggestions include Ground Zero Nightclub, The Loft, and The Front.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wonderful husband, Brian, who is the man behind the lens of the majority of my content. He is a huge help, so patient with me, and this would not be possible without him.
