We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Less and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I honestly kind of fell into it. A few years ago, I started sharing my recipes and health journey on Instagram and I found that a lot of people were struggling with the same things as me (food allergies and chronic illnesses). I created this amazing community by sharing what I am passionate about- food and wellness! I have always been an extremely creative person and I realized that over the years I became disconnected from this part of myself. Starting a food blog and creating allergy-friendly recipes has helped me to reconnect with my creative side, which has been so fun and rewarding!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I run Lesswithlaur LLC, where I focus on allergy-friendly recipes, overcoming chronic illness and overall health and wellness. There is SO much that goes into food blogging, running social media pages, recipe creation, photography/videography and just running a business in general. Most days I feel like I am working 24/7 (but trying to work on maintaining more of a balance)! What sets me apart from others is that I focus on making recipes that are adaptable for all diets, lifestyles, chronic illnesses and restrictions!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Last time I was in Arizona, we literally ate at True Food Kitchen almost every night. They are incredible with food allergies and the food is delicious (and nutritious)! I also loved Flower Child, Intentional Foods, Pressed Juicery, Original Chopchop and can’t forget In-N-Out fries! Highly recommend enjoying all of the hikes that AZ has to offer as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up, my dad always ran his own businesses and set out on different business ventures. He enjoyed working for himself and this allowed me to open up to the possibility that I didn’t have to follow a set “path” in order to be successful. I actually have learned that the opposite can be true and you can have more success (and happiness) by being brave enough to venture off of what you thought was your set “path”.
