We had the good fortune of connecting with Presley Woodall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Presley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had a crafty side to me and wanted to provide a service where I can bring peoples ideas to life. I have always been big on thrifting and like to refurbish items for my own home. I like the idea of finding an interesting piece, new or old, and transform it into something that fits you and the theme of your home, room, office or any place that needs some color. Sometimes people can envision something and life it too short to not have it. That’s where I come in.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
You could definitely categorize my art as western style decor. I grew up in the mountains in New Mexico and have been in ARIZONA for 11 years so I am heavily influenced by the scenery from both states. I like to create unique pieces for peoples home or office by either refurbishing something old or new. My craft limit is pretty endless and I love the challenges some customers give me. I am most proud of how much I stepped out of my comfort zone that not only made my business grow but made me grow personally as well. The few events this last year where I had to really put myself out there were all around really awesome for me in so many ways and I am thankful for those opportunities.
Nothing about this first year of business has been easy. I have had many frustrations and obstacles but I didn’t get into it thinking it would be a breeze. I will forever be learning but at the end of the day, I am so stoked and proud of myself.
I want the world to be inspired for one reason or another by my story. Either to start a business or to bring out your paints and create. I am in no hurry to be anywhere with my business. There is room for everyone and it’s not a race. I am enjoying the ride.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I am being completely honest, we would be as far away from the city as we could be. Hiking, fishing, camping or anything outdoorsy away from everyone, is on the list. All week long. Myself and my people appreciate some basic camping food, cheap beer and some great tunes. That’s what I call a vacation.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My boyfriend. I am very fortunate to have his support through everything. He comes with me to my events and helps haul and set everything up. From my anxiety and frustration to my achievements and new opportunities, he is there pushing me and cheering me on.
