We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Let me introduce you to Body and Soul Candle, your go-to destination for the ultimate relaxation experience.
Our journey began in 2018 when I personally experienced the unpleasant side effects of toxic paraffin wax in store-bought candles. As someone who relies on candles for relaxation, I couldn’t simply give them up. Determined to find a solution, I delved into the world of candle-making.
After research and experimentation, I discovered the benefits of 100% soy wax candles. Inspired by this discovery, I decided to craft my own candles that not only promote relaxation but also help prioritize your well-being.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At Body and Soul Candle, we firmly believe that everyone deserves some much-needed relaxation in their lives. That’s why our motto is centered around adding our candles to your relaxation routine for an aromatherapy affect. Each candle is carefully crafted with love and care using premium ingredients to create an ambiance that soothes both your body and soul. I make concrete vessels from scratch and fill them with 100% soy wax and essential oil infused fragrance. Our glass candles are made from 50% recycled materials. Each of these vessels can be repurposed to assist in the zero waste efforts. Running a business in today’s world is overwhelming, I’m faced with various challenges like juggling family responsibilities, managing a household and balancing a 9 to 5 job. On top of that, the impact of inflation has added a significant increase in the cost of goods. Finding funding for advertising can sometimes feel like an uphill battle on a micro level. I got to where I am today by studing the business candle making, being open when others offer help and by stepping out of my comfort zone to sell infront of an audience I did not think I would have.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends from out of state visit we typically eat at First Watch (do not sleep on this place), Glai Bann, Taco Chelo and Steak 44. I like to cook so we wouldn’t eat out to much. Depending on the weather you can find us at Lake Pleasant either on the boat, paddle boards or the big slide. Hiking a leisure trail, playing a sport, shopping Roosevelt Row, or out watching the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will always say I could not have done this without the support of my husband, Brian Sinnott. He is a power house realtor in the Valley and still makes sure he is available if I need him. We have two beautiful children together and life can get hetic. He’s there when I need him to load up the SUV, assist with market set up, break down displays and drop off packages. My family and extended family are never without words of encouragement.
