We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Locke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind my business was freedom. To be able to focus on my craft, have more time with my family, & connecting more with my clients.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been an Esthetician for 10 years, I specialize in full body waxing with my main focus being Brows, Brazilians, & Vajacials. What sets me apart from others is I genuinely love what I do, I love making my clients feel comfortable first time or not, I enjoy being myself with my clients and knowing that each person that comes to me studio is treated and accepted the same way each and every time. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come being a small business owner is not easy and there were times i wanted to give up, the love for me craft kept me going. I got where I am today with the support of my family, clients, & staying dedicated even with the slow days, or slow months. It’s not easy at all if was we’d all be doing it but having a good support system and really believing in yourself will help overcome the challenges. Lessons I’ve learnt along the way is definitely setting boundaries with this a very demanding business so having your set days to regroup is so important it’s okay to hustle but it’s also okay to rest and not respond to emails, texts until the following day. I want people to know that anything is possible I know it sounds cliche but I knew I wanted to have my own business I didn’t think I was going to start it during a pandemic but I’d did it and if I can do it anyone can do it
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town I’d definitely take her up to Sedona. You can’t beat the scenery, hang out up there for the day shop, look at Crystals, meditate, do arua readings, then I’d take her to Glai Bann for Tai food and their drinks are amazing one of my favorite restaurants.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I easily can say I dedicate this to my Husband Dion, our Daughters Loren and Shanice. They have been my backbone since I said I wanted to open my business, they encourage me daily & they’re always there to give me advice & cheer me on. My mom & dad, & my grandmother Sophia.
