We had the good fortune of connecting with Caprice` Ortivez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caprice`, what are you inspired by?
I am a person that is inspired by nearly everything in some way or another. The good, the bad, the difficult or challenging people and experiences I encounter along my journey, they all have inspiring aspects for me. Though, as an an adventure company owner/guide and outdoor adventure enthusiast one inspiration that astounds me the most is when I encounter and guide those that are not afraid to say, “YES” to a rock climbing adventure! Those who have no prior rock climbing experience, who live far away, who may be afraid of heights or who are self-conscious of their physical ability and/or appearance, but are brave enough to say “YES” anyway! Those who are willing to challenge themselves to a new experience are rewarded with extraordinary life long memories and a greater self awareness/confidences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My educational background and majors of study for a B.B.A has empowered me to be a brave and business-wise individual. However, it is my sheer passion for nature, outdoor recreation, and hosting educational family fun/team building events that has led me into the world of professional outdoor adventure guiding. But, passion is not always enough. We have to continuously work VERY had to compete with major corporations within the adventure tourism industry. We have to make certain our experiences are not those like those from large corporations that can feel pre-packaged rushed and commercialized. We work hard to create and deliver EXTRA-ordinary experiences that feel like you are under the wings of a LOCAL guide. Experiences that are personalized, private, and unique to each individual. There is a silver lining in that competitive challenge though! Since our company IS locally owned and operated we are able to offer some of the BEST outdoor adventure rates in the state of Arizona.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Southeast Arizona. Escaping from the Sonoran Desert, southeastern Arizona sits at 4,500+ elevation, the same elevation as Sedona. So, contrary to popular belief, traveling farther south does not translate to hotter temperatures. Cochise County is a plethora of Native American, Mexican, and European settlement history with its unique environment and geological wonders. Cochise County also has several NPS managed areas and State Parks to explore.
