We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Lee Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linda Lee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As long as I can remember, I have been telling and writing children stories. Raising my daughter as a single mom, bedtime stories were an every night event. As the years progressed and my daughter grew up, I decided to take our favorite bedtime story and actually write it down and bring it to life on paper. I had no idea where this would go! My first book “There’s a Witch in My Dryer” has become a 5 star must read on Amazon and I was so fortunate to tour with Barnes & Noble book stores all across the US. Signing and reading my stories to so many amazing readers was the start of my author career. I am now ready to release my second published book “Lucky The Cow” coming to stores everywhere this summer. If I was to give any advice about passions or ambitions and how to make them happen, I would say, step out of your box and do anything you can to create your dream. If you aspire to accomplish a personal goal or to possibly take your dream further than you ever imagined, I say to you ,”Never stop believing”. Please visit me at Lindaleecross.com
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I honestly do not feel that I am at all different from anyone else. I am a self taught author and I have had many challenges along the way. I feel like the hardest part of writing for me was finding the exact words that I was trying to convey to my readers. Having my vision play out in words has been the most amazing accomplishment of all. To listen to teachers, librarians or just a child read my book out loud is by far the reason I write. I am so excited to release my newest published book this summer. I hope to bring all of the joy and passion that keeps me writing into this newest story and into your hands for you to enjoy and be entertained.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It isn’t called sunny Arizona for no reason. You wake up and it’s a perfect 85 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Starting off the day it is a must to go hit one of the many iconic brunch spots for bottomless mimosas (our favorites are Sumo Maya and The Montauk). After a filling brunch it’s a great time to walk it off by finding your every shopping desire at the amazing Fashion Square located in the heart of Scottsdale. As the day begins to wind its way down dinner and drinks are in order. Maple and Ash, Hula’s Modern Tiki, Yard House or maybe Diego Pops to just name a few are all amazing choices but reservations are definitely recommended. Last but not least, a night cap to be had at one of Az’s exclusive speakeasy establishments. A little tricky to find, so you will be glad you are in good hands with a local Arizonian to show you the way.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so grateful for my husband who has been there for me, caring my books every step of the way. And to my dear friend Coyote Peterson with Brave Wilderness and Animal Planet ,who encouraged me to continue writing and following my dreams.
