We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked as an esthetician at a small number of salons in my career before opening my studio. I learned and perfected so many skills at each of these jobs, and met many talented and influential colleagues along the way. Even so, I felt I was being held back and realized my full potential wasn’t being utilized. I wanted to make more time to for my clients, broaden my service menu to accommodate those clients, and bring my vision of a welcoming, warm and inclusive atmosphere to life. When the opportunity emerged, I jumped at that chance. I am so proud of the space I’ve created, and I can undoubtedly say that I love coming into work every day! I pride myself in making my clients feel beautiful in their own skin, and making sure we have a blast while doing so!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Before I was an esthetician and permanent makeup artist, I was a Veterinary Technician. Before that, I was an artist and a photographer. As soon as I signed up for Esthetician School, I knew I also wanted to become a permanent makeup artist. My eye for symmetry and perfection has been a big help in both aspects! I love creating a beautiful brow. I have taken MANY continuing education courses and plan to continue every year. I deeply value learning and deepening my knowledge in all things skincare.
I graduated from Aveda in 2019 with High Honors and a few other awards. As soon as I graduated, I quickly discovered you will learn the most at your first job in the field. Learning never ends! A considerable amount of things change in this industry every year. Trends change, we discover new beneficial ingredients, and the needs of our clients evolve. My advice to those new graduates is to not expect your knowledge to be extensive after you ace those exams. Experience is everything. Take that job you’ve been offered, soak it all in for a year and never miss out on those free classes and certification courses. If you can afford it, pay for some more advanced courses also. Listen to skincare and small business podcasts, follow your idols on instagram and be helpful to your fellow esthi! It was not easy to get where I am today, and I am still hoping to grow my business extensively in the next few years. I have so much more to offer!
At Lindsey the Esthi Beauty Studio, I offer Skincare, Waxing, Powder Brows, Nano Brows, Lip Blush, Brow Laminations, Lash Lifts and more. I offer professional grade skincare brands that will improve your skin and maintain that beautiful, healthy glow. I want my clients to feel beautiful inside and out. I offer results-driven skincare treatments that are customized to each of my client’s needs. I prefer to educate and inform my clients on the most beneficial products that would treat their skincare concerns, while not being pushy. I want the best for them and their skin, and I understand starting a new skincare regimen can be a process and take time. I offer complimentary consults so we can talk about your skin or brow goals before making a commitment. Make that appointment you’ve been thinking of, you won’t regret it!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a busy Mom, Wife and Business owner, to be honest, I don’t get out often. I do love a few places around town though! I love a fun drink and paint night with Tipsy Picassos. We stop by Serial Grillers for lunch pretty often; I need a fix of their tots and ranch to go with one of their delicious hot sandwiches! Tucson is a great place to just drive out in any directions for some new beautiful landscapes and 4-wheeling! My kids also LOVE Wild Katz Adventure Playground. I enjoy gardening and a little plant therapy, so I stop by Mesquite Valley Growers Nursery for plants pretty often. I have many in my studio that I absolutely love!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can say without a doubt, I owe so much of my success to my husband, Chris. If it wasn’t for his constant words encouragement and reassurance, I know I wouldn’t have been able to come this far. It’s phenomenal to have someone believe so strongly in your abilities and artistry, and stick by your side throughout it all. I’ve also made some great friends in my fellow Esthi’s. We lean on each other, learn from each other, exchange ideas and expertise, and even burn off a little steam every now and then. We all need our “Women supporting Women” in this business!
