We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Illg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, how do you think about risk?
When thinking about risk, I view it as a necessary part of growth and success. Taking calculated risks has been essential in my career and life. It’s about stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing opportunities that might seem daunting at first. The risks I’ve taken have often led to the most significant breakthroughs, whether it’s expanding my business, launching new services, or investing in personal development.

For me, risk-taking isn’t about being reckless; it’s about being strategic and having confidence in my abilities and vision. Every risk comes with the possibility of failure, but I’ve learned that failure is a stepping stone to success. It provides valuable lessons and insights that help me make better decisions in the future.

Overall, taking risks has played a crucial role in my journey, pushing me to innovate, adapt, and continuously evolve. It’s helped me build resilience and a mindset focused on growth and long-term success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business focuses on helping entrepreneurs and business owners build out standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline their operations, enabling them to grow and scale effectively. What sets us apart is our personalized approach—we don’t just provide generic templates; we work closely with each client to understand their unique needs and create SOPs that align with their specific goals and business model.

I’m incredibly proud of the impact we’ve had on our clients’ businesses. Seeing them achieve greater efficiency, reduce stress, and have the confidence to scale is incredibly rewarding. It’s exciting to be part of their journey to success and to know that our work is making a tangible difference.

Getting to where I am today in business wasn’t easy. Like any entrepreneur, I faced my share of challenges, from figuring out the right processes to gaining the trust of clients. Overcoming these obstacles required resilience, continuous learning, and a willingness to adapt. One of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of having clear, documented processes—not just for my clients, but for my own business as well. This has been crucial in navigating challenges and ensuring consistent growth.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that we’re here to empower businesses to reach their full potential. By streamlining operations and creating efficient processes, we help entrepreneurs focus on what they do best—innovating and growing their businesses. My journey has been one of perseverance, passion, and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we only had one day to make the most of the visit, here’s how I’d plan it:

Morning:

Breakfast at 32 Shea: Start the day with a cozy breakfast at 32 Shea. The relaxed atmosphere and delicious menu make it the perfect spot to fuel up for the day ahead.
Hike Camelback Mountain: After breakfast, we’d head over to Camelback Mountain for a morning hike. The climb is challenging but rewarding, with stunning views of the city from the top.
Midday:

Explore Downtown Scottsdale: Once we’ve freshened up, we’d spend some time exploring the downtown area. We could wander through local shops, check out some art galleries.
Afternoon:

Relax and Recharge: After our downtown exploration, we’d take a little break—perhaps relax by a pool or visit a spa for a quick massage to recharge for the evening.
Evening:

Drinks at Century Grand: As the sun sets, we’d make our way to Century Grand for a unique cocktail experience. The atmosphere here is perfect for unwinding and enjoying some creative drinks.
Dinner at Chelsea’s Kitchen: To cap off the day, we’d head to Chelsea’s Kitchen for dinner. The ambiance, coupled with their fantastic menu, makes it the ideal spot for a memorable meal.
This itinerary packs in some of the best spots in the area, offering a mix of adventure, relaxation, and great food and drinks—all in one day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
“The E-Myth” had a profound impact on me because it was one of the first business books I read, and it completely shifted my perspective on what it means to build and run a business. The book helped me understand that many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of working in their business rather than on their business. This realization was eye-opening and crucial for my growth.

The concepts in “The E-Myth” guided me to see the importance of creating systems and processes that allow a business to run efficiently without relying solely on the owner’s constant involvement. This insight was instrumental in my journey toward building sustainable and scalable businesses. The book inspired me to focus on developing a strong foundation with well-defined standard operating procedures, which ultimately became a core part of my approach to helping other business owners achieve the same.

In essence, “The E-Myth” was the catalyst that set me on the path to building businesses with intention and structure, rather than just passion and hard work. It taught me that true success comes from working smarter, not just harder, and that systems are key to long-term growth.
