We had the good fortune of connecting with Loretta Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Loretta, why did you pursue a creative career?
I would say that I pursue an artistic, creative career because it was assigned me-as a child I felt it calling me. I feel that I’ve been given the gift to channel the universe, the dark depths circling life, love, reality, everyone and everything. In other words, those who are creative/artistic are to describe the subtle, silent places, the stored away magic and mystery calling him or her to empty into the dark, forlorn forest…the space of the heart and mind, the life capsule.
My experience is that I and those like me, possess a plaintive song, a dream of aspiration, consolation, knowledge, inspiration and optimism to interpret, and pour into a world culture. I consider that I have an assignment which is to use the gifts God has given me.
My purpose as a writer/author/playwright/composer/musician/singer is to energetically use every stretch of my talent and imagination, and be disciplined as I engage the flow of creativity circling life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I can’t think of a place I’d carry a friend to because I’m less a worldly type, and probably more attuned to a spiritual and natural way of living. As such, maybe a beautiful natural setting, a natural preserve anywhere, mainly in the United States would be where I’d take them. I’m drawn to natural settings and could include images, places and even objects, almost anything inhabiting and translating the silence of spiritual peace.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to give credit for the success I’ve experienced with my creative/artistic experiences to God for He is responsible for the gifts that I have. My life as a writer/playwright/author/composer/musician/singer began with my three siblings and our parents in ‘The Bottom’, a section of West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I can remember impressing my siblings with stories and skits-plays-I’d create. In that tiny living room it seemed they were fixed on my every word as I put life into characters and places and things.
‘The Bottom’, a section in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I grew up during the 1940’s, 50’s, was a lowly place inhabited by the working class, and just as much by the poor. A location of dim surroundings, The Bottom became a principality of longing and invention throughout my childhood; it became a location flowing with glimpses of the brilliant light of inspiration, sparkling wonder, and deep mystery, intrigue and discovery-astounding productions of myths and glory spread encouragement and hope. Because of its texture and fertility, no amount of sophistication could have provided better than ‘The Bottom’ for it was an excellent, bejeweled, poetic place, an excursion nothing could drain from my memory…it authorized the writer, creative person that I am today..
At my very senior age, I find I’m more in vogue creatively than ever in my life. I am multi-published: novels, short-stories, plays, essays, poetry, music, an Online Content Creator and more. I say this to inspire or invigorate any wistful aging writer to believe it’s never too late to expect success. All of this has become possible because of my faith in the Lord Jesus.
