We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Coudriet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, what principle do you value most?
The principle that matters to me the most is most definitely the concept of honesty. A person cannot better themselves or their work if they are not told the truth, now matter how harsh it might seem; it still needs to be told.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Upon being told I was to be getting out of the military after 8 years; I truly had no idea what I was to do with my life. It seemed like if I was to continue medical practice in the civilian aspect; I was going to have to start from square one. I do not like backtracking in life. So, if I was going to be starting over; why not try something new. I started apprenticing as a hair washer at a salon my last year in the military. I would finish my shift on base, then go finish up my day for a few more hours helping run the phones and shampooing clients. Within the following year, I went through cosmetology school, and passed the state board. I can honestly say finding a shop where I fit in was the hardest part. No one stylist is like another and finding my niche was a challenge. Over the course of a few years of just striving to my find myself in this new world; I took the leap and began working for myself and couldn’t be happier.

I started modeling on a whim when asked if I would a necklace for a designer. Seeing no downside to it, it has turned into a wonderful traveling opportunity that has taken me up and down the east coast and to LA; having the honor to walk in New York Fashion week and be a cover model for a few magazines, like Heart of Hollywood. It has inspired me to start my own design line which will be premiering a piece in May in Pigeon Forge.

The biggest thing that inspires me is the happiness that I see from the completion of a client in my chair to the red carpets and runways I’ve had the privilege to walk across. My mantra every day is to continue being as bold, as brilliant, and as utterly true to myself as possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, one hundred percent we would be going to Hunting Island, SC for a beach day. You drive through a subtropical wooded area (think Jurassic Park) which leads onto a massive white beach. Truly beautiful landscape. Lunch would be heading back into Downtown Beaufort, SC which would be this cute restaurant that I have recently fallen in love with called Lost Locals. The specialty tacos area absolutely divine. Afterwards, we would walk down the street to our local dive bar, Hemmingway’s, which features live music, waterfront views, and most importantly a friendly local atmosphere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dedication would have to go to my best mate, Perette G. We have been through so many trials and tribulations throughout our lives together; and yet that woman can see the silver lining in most things. She has been a non-stop supporter in my creativity and drive, and i really don’t think I would be where I am at today if it wasn’t for her.
