We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Baab and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Its funny, growing up in NYC, my mindset was always attuned to “hustle culture” — if you’re not working, you’re falling behind. Becoming a mom definitely put a lot into perspective about balance, but it wasn’t until more recently that Ive relaxed into a mindset of rest being just as important as getting after it. In my experience as an HTMA Expert and Wellness Coach, Ive seen first hand the detriment of pushing the body to the brink and dealing with chronic stress. Balance is important in all things, movement, rest, nutrition, social time, work, play.. the list goes on..

What sets you apart from other people in your profession?
I’ve walked the walk! Many years ago I was a 30-year old, first-time mom with endless symptoms like insomnia, migraines, weight loss resistance, chronic fatigue, brain fog, etc and I learned about how supplementing for deficiency and rebalancing minerals could not only address the root cause of many of my symptoms but improve my overall mental , physical and energetic well-being. I always say, being well is very simple but it is not easy! It takes time, consistency and patience. True healing must be encompassed by a multi-pronged approach to give the body what it needs, and allow the changes to integrate over time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omgosh fun! I’d have them stay at The Global Ambassador Hotel by Sam Fox. It is elegant, vibrant and every ounce of the luxury it promises. The itinerary for TGA would definitely include a few treatments at the Spa, and multiple visits to EVERY restaurant in the hotel — Le Âme (Parisian Steakhouse) The Pink Dolphin, a sunset dinner at Théa (Mediterranean Rooftop bar and restaurant that overlooks Camelback Mountain) and drinks/snacks at their posh Lobby Bar. The culinary experiences at TGA are second to none in the area and every meal is memorable, fun and fresh.
A few other absolute musts for food: Glai Baan, Tacos Chiwas, Amelia’s by Eat, Santo Arcadia, Andreoli Italian Grocer, Vecina, La Grande Orange (LGO), Hiro Sushi, Uchi and Eat Clean Phoenix for juices and healthy grab+go meals.
I am all about wellness so we would go for an early morning hike to either Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak or Pinnacle Peak. I also love the Gateway Loop trail and Tom’s Thumb. Getting a DermaShape lymphatic treatment + HOCATT Ozone therapy + Colon Hydrotherapy at Scottsdale Hydrotherapy would 100% be on my list! It’s the ultimate detox support and so relaxing. (I basically live at Scottsdale Hydrotherapy..they’re amazing!) and even though it isn’t open quite yet, I would book a workout and recovery for us at the Hive FitClub. A Release Method class by Jaclyn Renee would also be really amazing and grounding.
A day trip to Sedona is an obvious must— there is nothing quite as beautiful as taking a drive through Oak Creek Canyon in the summertime. I also love spending time exploring the Grand Canyon or kayaking the Colorado River up near Horseshoe Bend, so that’s always an option in my book! Under Canvas is an amazing outdoor accommodation so close to the Grand Canyon— that would be so very special.

In town, we would definitely take a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio, Taliesin West. I also love Cosanti and the Desert Botanical Garden— Butterfly Wonderland is also great for a peaceful and beautiful place to spend an afternoon. And no trip to Scottsdale is complete without shopping so we would head over to The Fredrick to check out the boutiques there and also enjoy the Quarter and Kierland Commons.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, glory to God for this beautiful life I am living. Second would be my incredible husband, Jason Hua. He is endlessly supportive of me and our family. He is also so receptive to the changes Ive made in our lifestyle over the years, and he’s just the best partner—we truly do life together. And Victoria Franca, the founder of Omne Wellness. Victoria was my coach many years ago and then took a chance on me as a coach. Im forever grateful for our work together because it changed my health for the exponentially better and the opportunity to turn this passion into a career is such a gift.
