We had the good fortune of connecting with Marigrace Pilger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marigrace, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s funny because I had always wanted to have my own business someday but I just wasn’t sure of exactly what I wanted it to be. One day I decided to design a mental health T-shirt so that I could wear it and spread the word about mental health disorders and so many people liked the design that I thought others may also be interested in purchasing my designs. I knew right then and there that it was time to start my own business and then I started the process of filing for an LLC and buying our website domain. It was the best decision!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am so proud of my business because it was born out of hardship. I truly tried to take something that had wrecked my life for years (my OCD) and turn it into a positive to help others in the same boat. I am excited fr more opportunities to get to share my story and grow our incredible brand. It took some time to get the business started but I was so happy with how it all came together. Owning your own business is not always easy but it truly is some of the most fulfilling work. Having entire creative freedom over my own brand is something I cherish and always will.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally live in Chicago so I would love to take a friend to RPM Italian downtown for some incredible Italian food! I would then take them to the many museums and the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to shoutout my therapist for just getting me through the toughest times mentally and throughout her encouragement, she truly helped me find inspiration for all of our designs. I want to protect her privacy so she will remain nameless, but I owe a lot to her.
