We had the good fortune of connecting with Marco Monreal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marco, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
At Unrivaled Performance, we believe in building a sustainable business that cares for its employees, customers and environment. We truly believe that the success of the business must be shared amongst the people who help build it. We offer a profit sharing incentive to our employees to prove that everyone can successful if you work hard with passion, care and skill.

What should our readers know about your business?
Unrivaled Performance is driven by passion. The passion we have for the automotive field is what drives us to build vehicles the right way for our customers. Quality and professionalism is at the forefront of what we do. We aren’t focused on the money, the clout or any other distraction out there. We care about our work and how it represents our core values. Our core values are based on honesty, integrity and adventure. We aren’t afraid of trying new things and thinking outside of the box. Our underlying principle is to truly give our customers a product they can be proud of and have fun in. A product that is Unrivaled.

In the early phases of the company, Michael Gutierrez was at the forefront of starting the business and customer base. When he called me to invest in the company back in 2019 I thought it was a great opportunity to help someone I believed in while getting the opportunity to work in a field I’ve always dreamed of working in. As year 3 came around, we made the decision to grow and invest in a new facility and a high tech chassis dyno (Dynapack Hub Dyno). Growing the business has been one of the biggest challenges we have had to face. Having a larger facility was a necessity after we purchased our chassis dyno. With Michael being a certified engine tuner and engine builder, we needed to lean into our niche and invest in having the best equipment possible to build high performance machines. That also meant we had to find ways to fund our goals by working other jobs or working extremely late hours. If I had to offer any advice to any entrepreneur, it would be to make sure you have twice the amount of funds you think you will need.

Our next challenge is rooted in growing our team. We are currently looking for talented technicians that strive to put quality first. We understand how challenging the automotive field is. It has been difficult to find the right mix of skill and experience. In order to solve for that, we offer a profit sharing incentive to our employees. We understand how important the people we work with are to the success of the company.

All in all, being part of a business that you can call your own is an amazing feeling that comes with great responsibility. Building a business is not easy and it will introduce new challenges to your life that you never thought would exist. My biggest advice to any entrepreneur is to focus on your plan, be persistent and relentless with your pursuit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting Tucson for a week, I would advise them to explore the outdoors as much as possible during the week. I would recommend driving thru Saguaro National Park and visiting the Desert Museum. I would then have them drive to Mount Lemmon to try out the oatmeal raisin cookies at the Cookie Cabin. I would then recommend hiking Sabino Canyon and checking out 7 Falls Trail. After the hike, Eegees is a must.

The University of Arizona would be another great spot to checkout on a Thursday night, followed by 4th Avenue and Downtown Tucson to end the weekend. Hotel Congress is a must for anyone who has never been to Tucson.

For food, you can’t leave Tucson without trying a Sonoran Hot Dog from the local stands you find in South Tucson. BK’s, Aqui con el Nene’s, Hot Dog Mercado and Guero Canelo are all top notch spots for a Sonoran Hot Dog and amazing tacos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
From our loyal customers to friends and family, we would not be where we are today without the immense support from our fathers, mothers, girlfriends and ASCENTI LLC. We are grateful and appreciative of the support. It is amazing to see how our friends showed up for us when we moved to a new facility and needed help with grading the property or bringing us a meal while working late hours. We are working hard to make everyone that helped us proud and we understand that we would not be where we are today without the help and support we have received. Thank you from everyone at Unrivaled Performance.
