Hi Marlaay, why did you pursue a creative career?
As i was growing up, i could not stay out of trouble, i had so much anger and rage built up inside me. My friends all died and went to jail, my family never had careers, it was all negative energy.

Music and art was the only way to get out and express and harness my thoughts with out consequences.

I started the hippiefriends brand to spread positive energy and higher viberations to the outkast the weirdos the people who lost hope and also show my people we can enjoy the finer things in life and that we dont all have to be trappers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make music simply because i love it and i have no care if others do. It comes strictly from the heart and whatever viberation im currently at.. I try to keep it as true as possible.. i dont really like to talk about the negative stuff but i know thats part of my life so sometimes it comes out in my music but besides that i just want to show people its ok to be you its ok to enjoy…

Im from minnesota and its hell to do anything there, nobody would work with me everyone overlooked me.. i made a wise choice to move my family to Arizona and the connections and support i received here in 2 years is crazy compared to a life time in minnesota.

I’ve learned you can not depend on anyone, you have to take chances and not be afraid to belive in you.

My brand is for the hopeless the outkast, stay true to you dont change for anyone.. if you got 10 supporters thats fine, everyone is not going to like you.. dont give up, it could always be your moment.the universe you control it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Grand canyon for sure, just to get away and recharge.. no electronics just you and the earth .after two days there we would head to downtown phoenix eat at chico malo one of the best places I’ve been , great quality of food and the customer service is impeccable. Then take them to the Pueblo grande museum its eye opening and peaceful and rich in history..

Nighttime go to jaguars phx its a upscale gentleman’s club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Prince is one of ny biggest influences, a lightskin man from minnesota same as me. Got made fun of for embracing his self, everybody didn’t understand hisvnusic or vision and he learned to do everything on his own.. same with me couldn’t get studio time. So i built my own. Couldn’t get beats so i made my own.. couldn’t fit in with the popular crews so i created Thehippiefriends
