We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Hi! I’m so honored to be nominated in Shoutout, thank you.
Well, I’ve been in the interior design industry for 6 years, but have always had a passion for creating beautiful spaces. I’ve worked for a couple of great design firms in the past, but when my husband and I wanted to expand our family, I knew I would need more flexibility in my schedule. Working at a firm I simply couldn’t have that and still be able to do all the “mom” things. I didn’t want to just give up my career either. To some degree, I felt starting my own interior design studio was my only option for allowing me the best balance of both a happy homelife and continuing to work in my industry. Even with my past design experience, starting Lively Haus from scratch hasn’t been easy. But I am not upset by that and I’ve never looked back. I absolutely love the work I do and the service I provide, and I love growing this small studio into whatever it supposed to be.
What should our readers know about your business?
I run both Lively Haus, which is a small interior design studio, and also an online curated home decor store, Shoppelivelyhaus.com. My focus is primarily on residential design. When working with a client, my goal is to cultivate a space that is truly unique, tailored spaces that emphasizes livability and functionality that not only meets their needs but the family’s needs as well. Design is a collaborative effort, I pull inspiration from the client’s themselves, industry experts, architects, builders, and fellow designers. From ideation to creation, to execution, each space takes on a life of it’s own that is complantive to those residing in it. Design is an investment, I want my clients to know the design we create for them is one they can confidently enjoy 10 years from now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Yes! I am a desert girl at heart, and take much inspiration from the beauty of the Arizona landscape. Locally, I am a fan of Scottsdale both north and south. As highlights, I’d say a stay at the Scottsdale Princess to enjoy the luxury of the north side. A beautiful morning hike at Camelback Mountain to take in that desert scenery and brunch Arcadia Farms Café in Old Town, just because of the energy Old Town Scottsdale has to offer. Some evening fun would be at Top Golf to take advantage of our amazing winter weather, and top it off with dinner at Chelsea’s Kitchen – their food is SO delicious. The Phoenix area just has an endless amount of things to do, see, and places to eat, there’s something for everyone…and that’s why I love it here!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Daniel. He believed in me before I ever did.
