Meet Michelle Moyer | Jewelry Designer & Metalsmith

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Moyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is, “If not now, when?” It’s a simple question that helps me assess whether I truly want something. If I’m hesitating, I try to understand why. Am I waiting for the right moment, or do I not want it enough? Sometimes there’s a valid reason to wait, other times, it’s fear or uncertainty holding me back. This phrase helps me clarify my intentions and, if now isn’t the right time, decide when the right time will be—because life is short.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began metalsmithing about 13 years ago, starting with a series of classes and quickly dedicating all my free time to honing my skills. That passion led me to launch a jewelry line, which evolved through a few name changes before becoming Michelle Haumont Jewelry.
Nine years ago, I expanded my work by opening KP Studio—a teaching space offering beginning through advanced jewelry classes. Creating a place where artists could come together to learn, share, and create felt like a natural step. Today, I run both the teaching studio and my jewelry line.
Over the years, my jewelry has continued to evolve. About a year ago, I opened a boutique space connected to the studio to focus more on custom engagement rings and artisan jewelry.
Balancing both businesses has been one of my biggest challenges. For a time, my jewelry line took a backseat to KP Studio, but in the past couple of years, I’ve shifted more attention back to it—reinvesting in the creative side that started it all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to town, I’d probably take them hiking at Lookout Mountain or North Mountain—both offer great views but are a bit more relaxed than Camelback or Piestewa. We’d likely visit the Phoenix Art Museum and definitely catch a show at Phoenix Theatre. For food and drinks, we’d stop by Century Grand for cocktails, and grab dinner at some of my favorite spots like Glai Baan or Buck & Rider.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my wife, Amy. She’s been my unwavering support—cheering me on through the highs and standing by me during the lows. Whether it’s celebrating the wins or helping me work through frustration, she’s always there with encouragement, patience, and love.
