We had the good fortune of connecting with Mik Hrabczuk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mik, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’m not one to shy away from rolling the dice. I’ve always been very big on gambling on my self and that’s pretty much what owning a gym is. My business partner Shane and I, felt very comfortable gambling on our talent and knowledge of training to be able to build a gym and a successful business from the gym. It did take us awhile to make the leap, but we’re both thankful that we pushed our selves to make that jump to our own business. I would always rather gamble on my self win or lose than let someone else decide my life and work. Plus risk adds some spice to life, where’s the excitement if you never go all in on something?

What should our readers know about your business?
Mach 1 Sports Performance has been a dream. I knew we would grow it in to something, but not what it is now. It’s 10x better than we imagined. We train anyone and everyone that has a goal. All we care about is that you have something you want to work towards or accomplish. Any given day you could be working out next to a 10 year old learning how to exercise, an NBA Player, an 80 year old trying to defy age, and everything in between. Everyone has their own path and goal, this just where all those like-minded people meet and push themselves and each other to those goals.

It’s amazing to see so many different types of people working towards different accomplishments, enjoy one another’s company and support the chasing of each person’s dreams.

I truly believe we got to this place now, because of the culture my self and Shane Anderson set. A positive, hard-working, fun environment where people truly feel cared for. We do everything we can to treat each member like a part of a family. Just like we help our people, our people help us and it has created an amazing community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love downtown Phoenix! If I was taking a friend out, we would hit Huarachi’s for some tacos, then head to a suns game! After the game I would take them to The Churchill for a drink and a late night bite! Definitely tour Roosevelt Row and all the shops and restaurants there. Also 7th st in Central Phoenix is a hotspot for great food and hangouts. The Yard is always a must!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely have to give a shout out to my friends and family that supported me when all I could talk about was building a brand and owning my own gym. At the time it sounded crazy but those people stuck with me and believed. A little belief can go a long way!
