We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebekah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business has always been a goal of mine. I wanted to pursue an interest I have always loved with skills I have gained in the corporate world. It wasn’t until my first long relaxing bath with a cup of tea after having a baby that this idea of a company came to mind. The Prickly Partea Co. was formed shortly after by marrying a goal with a passion. Ultimately, I wanted to provide a customer the necessary items for them to throw an amazing tea party. With tea parties being a very popular theme for bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, etc., but the cost to buy items, time looking for items, and storage needed after the party was done, can be stressful and expensive for the host. The Prickly Partea Co. wanted to provide a service to help save money, time, and storage and give the host the beautiful tea party that they had envisioned for their event. The Prickly Partea Co. wanted to become the ultimate tea party rental company by collecting a beautiful assortment of teaware items to provide customers modest rental rates on stylish teaware to accommodate their special occasion. Since starting my business, I have never been happier and love sharing my beautiful teaware with customers for them to host fun, classic, and beautiful tea parties.
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I believe what sets us apart from other businesses is our focus on customer service and providing the customer the opportunity to save time and money. The Prickly Partea Co. offers a very specialized rental service with a beautiful assortment of teaware. Our teaware includes; tea cups & saucers, teapots, creamer & sugar dispensers, tiered stands, place settings, teaware accessories, and more! This company makes me very proud, because we help a customer’s vision come to life at a modest rental cost.
I have been able to get where I am today from years of experience in marketing for large companies. The journey to getting where I am today was never easy, it required a lot of hard work, more than 40+ hours a week, and striving to constantly learn more and grow. Any challenges that came my way, I overcame with mentorship, working harder, but most importantly not being afraid to ask for help by humbling myself when I didn’t know how to do a task and asking to learn. The lessons I have learned along the way have helped me truly learn what is most important, the customer. By providing the customer the best experience, you create loyalty to the brand, referrals, and ultimately a relationship. My years of experience with large companies, gave me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. I was able to gain the knowledge and experience to pursue a goal of mine of having my own business.
The Prickly Partea Co. has brought to the Valley an amazing selection of teaware rentals. Our company is customer focused, and we want to ensure a wide selection of rentals to fit every budget for your special occasion. Let us help you by saving you the cost of buying your own teaware, time finding the teaware, and storing the teaware that you may one use a couple of times by renting with The Prickly Partea Co. We have a beautiful array of packages or we can do a fully custom package to suit your needs for your special occasion.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many amazing places to visit in Arizona, things to do, places to eat, etc. I would stay local with a friend and show them around the Valley. My first stop would be the Gilbert Farmer’s Market, because I love supporting local and small businesses. Also, the vendors there are phenomenal! My next stop would be for lunch at the Queen Creek Olive Mill, where they are family owned and offer an amazing assortment of delicious food and drinks, and you can buy their goods! If I were to take a friend to grab a drink, I would absolutely go to Century Grand. The three bars that are underneath this company provide an experience like no other here in the Valley. My favorite part about living here in Arizona is the beautiful desert that surrounds us. The Sonoran Desert was an inspiration in my company name and logo. I love spending time outside, especially during the cooler months. I would take a friend to go experience the beautiful desert on a hike, or a scenic drive. It is the moments out in nature that help you escape from the busy world, and enjoy all that Arizona has to offer!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people deserve recognition in my story. I started my company in 2022, in which I was a new mother and working full time. However, when I came up with The Prickly Partea Co. I pitched the idea to my spouse, Marc and he was thrilled seeing how passionate I was about this. He has always been the biggest supporter in my life both personally and professionally. He encouraged me to pursue this goal of mine and offered his experience and knowledge in help growing this small business. He deserves so much recognition for the countless number or questions/ideas I bounced off of him, and the amount of teaware items now in our house! Also, I have to give a shoutout to my family for their support in helping me pursue this as well. The mentorship I have received from everyone from my spouse, parents, and siblings has helped me grow an idea into a business. Their continued guidance/support through this journey of owning a small business is something I will always be so grateful for. Without your love and encouragement, my company would not be where it is today. Thank you to my whole family.
