We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Smoke Alarm Medic was founded to bring education and awareness to the importance of working smoke alarms in the home.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, approximately three out of five fire deaths happen in homes that have zero or defective smoke alarms. We prevent you from being part of the statistics.
At Smoke Alarm Medic, we offer smoke alarms, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, dryer vent cleaning, and fire extinguishers in the metropolitan area of Phoenix, AZ. We take pride in providing excellent customer service and premium fire safety products at affordable rates. We are firefighter owned and operated with unique insights into your home’s safety needs.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career started in 2003 as a firefighter. From a young age I always grew up knowing I wanted to be a firefighter and to serve others. I have been blessed to have a career in the fire service for the last 18 years. I am currently a Captain/Paramedic working in the Phoenix Metro area.
Being in the fire service, having a family and owning and operating a small business has presented its unique challenges. I have and always will put my family first. I have had to learn a work/life balance. At times it is challenging but at the end of the day I rest my head easy knowing I am supported by a beautiful wife and two amazing kids.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Phoenix is an amazing place to visit. Upon arrival of a best friend during the spring time I would take them to Biscuits Cafe for breakfast. We would take in a spring training game at one of the many beautiful spring training facilities. Once the game is done we would relax and have dinner at a local brewery like Peoria Artisan. The sunsets in Phoenix are something to be seen. I would make it a point to take them out to Lake Pleasant for a cruise around the lake and a chance to view one of the amazing AZ sunsets.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success and foundation on running a customer service oriented business belongs to my father. At a young age my dad always taught me to do to others as you want done to you. I have always lived by that Moto. My father passed away in August of 2020 from ALS. He legacy still lives on through me and I will always continue to honor him and deliver the upmost customer service to all our clients.
