We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Crouch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, how do you think about risk?
“There’s no reward in life without risk”, you hear it often and it definitely holds true. Any small business owner has at some point taken that leap of faith, taking a risk on their business seeking that reward. Most bloggers are making an initial investment in themselves. An investment in a dream, an idea and a brand. Blogging is a long game. It’s not a get rich quick scheme and takes time, commitment and perseverance. With dedication eventually that initial risk will pay off. Personally I can see the reward at the end of the tunnel and will only continue to learn and dedicate my time and energy to building my dream.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My blog Feenin for Greens is dedicated to creating simple vegan recipes that are wholesome, family-friendly and easy to make. I am most excited about the work I have been doing behind the scenes on my site. Each and every recipe is getting a full makeover with step by step process shots and updated tips for making each recipe turn out perfect every time! My goal is to make every recipe approachable for even the most beginner of cooks. This process has been far from easy and I am still working on it. As a blogger and mother at times I have felt like a fish out of water trying to juggle it all. It hasn’t been easy but this is my passion, my dream. So, I pull myself up by my bootstraps and through all the obstacles and challenges, I do my best to keep trucking along. There will always be challenges in life but it’s how we face them that makes the difference. I choose to face them head on and keep it moving and encourage others with a dream to do the same. Eventually the risk will become reward and you will look back and realize the sacrifices, the countless hours and the late nights were all worth it in the end.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my BFF to all my favorite vegan spots around town of course! First, we would stop by The Coronado for some amazing Cauliflower Tacos and maybe snag a few pastries for later while we are there. Then we would head on over to Nami for some ice cream and treats. I’m sure it wouldn’t be long before we were hungry again. So we would head to Earth Plant Based for dinner and enjoy some more amazing Tacos and milkshakes. Can you tell I love tacos just a bit? The next day we would stop by Dark Hall Coffee for matcha lattes and giant cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Then maybe we would drive on up to Sedona for a quick day trip and of course check out the amazing food spots there as well. By the end of the weekend we would be pretty full and happy I’d say!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Blogging has been a bit of a journey for me and that seems to be the case for most. Just when you think you have things figured out you discover you’ve been doing something incorrectly or something in the blogosphere changes. Which means backtracking and redoing work that you have already committed countless hours to. After, I found a Facebook group called Food Bloggers Central however, I have learned so much! Everyone in this group is genuinely looking to help and educate others who share the same passion. It truly is a community and has helped me tremendously.
