We had the good fortune of connecting with Msanii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Msanii, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I know its cliché, but without risk there truly isn’t a reward. I’ve learned that you have to embrace being uncomfortable and step out of your shell to open the door to a world of opportunities. Often times, taking risk has taught me not to fear the outcome but appreciate the experience, that’s where the true lesson is.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’ve heard the saying, “hard work will always outweigh talent”, to sum it up, you can have all the talent in the world, but without work ethic it means nothing. Work ethic is what separates me from most, consistency and discipline is the name of the game. You have to able to put in those long hours, sacrifice a little fun, and focus. This is not an easy feat, that’s why it’s important surrounding yourself with like minded individuals for support to keep you going. Following your artistic path can be challenging, because it’s a road traveled by many and it’s easy to get discouraged with all the talent around you. What you have to understand is, you are one of one and you have to maintain that mindset to reach the finish line. My brand is bigger than music, it represents those who aspire to achieve more out of life, no matter what your current circumstance is.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a great question, but my answer might not be as intriguing as you’d hope. I am a museum type of guy and appreciate art in all forms so we’d definitely have to start the week out there! DC is prominent for museums and they are free. In the midst of this week long trip, we would definitely have to tap in to the creative scene and visit local shows & networking events. Of course to add a little fun in the mix, we would visit a few bars, festivals, and visit a few vegetarian restaurants to see if I can persuade them to join me on this lifestyle lol. To wind down the week I would jump on the grill, invite a few friends over and engage in great conversation.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I appreciate everyone who has helped me along my journey, especially those who stuck with me from day one until this point. This road has been difficult, so for those who have been there through the rough patches, I’m forever indebted. I have an amazing village of family, friends, supporters, and most importantly my management team.
