We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakisha Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nakisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In the process of starting The Rebeaute, I wanted to build a space where people could come and reboot themselves from the inside out. I wanted to create an environment where people could just let go of their daily stress, feel and look like a different person than when they arrived at my salon.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While in Aesthetics School, we were advised to start thinking of a business name. I began thinking about how I want to help women reboot their beauty. I spent a few weeks finalizing the name until I came up with Rebeaute by Kishispirit. Kishispirit is a name I came up with for myself in college and I feel it defines me still to this day. I want people to have an experience with the spirit of Me—loving, caring and supportive. I want them to believe and know that I have their best interest in mind in helping them reach goals in their skincare journey. One thing that The Rebeaute has, that no one else has is me. I love what I do and it’s about the quality my clients will receive and not about the quantity of clients. They will know they are special and cared for. I believe it is my calling to be a guide to boost self esteem in my clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend comes here from Atlanta. We are one and the same—two introverts that love to eat! Each day we would explore a different restaurant that offers a variety of options on the menu. We would each order a different item, just so we can taste each other’s food. Of course we will have to try all the new brunch places every morning starting with Johnny’s Chicken & Waffle. We are Atliens—it’s a must. I have heard so much about Sugar Jam, so we would save that for the last day. I would definitely have to take her to Wren & Wolf for a nice elegant dinner downtown phoenix and of one of the best Mexican restaurants in Phoenix, PoPos. It’s not in the best area but it’s Really good! There is another restaurant called the Taco Guild! Soo Good! That will be like a Wednesday evening dinner for us. This would be a site to see— it’s inside of a church! I find it hilarious!
We would spend most of our days in my backyard sitting poolside, reminiscing of “the good ole days”, drinking mimosas, and filling my backyard with laughter. Afterwards, we would watch a few classics like Sister Act 2, and The Five Heartbeats, singing along to every song, because that’s what we do!
Maybe we would spend the night at The Princess in Scottsdale or Talking Stick Resort, just to say we did and then take the Pink Scottsdale Party Bus or AZ Wine Wagon to Sedona for some wine tasting—she’s not really into that so it would be more about the experience and the scenery for her. I don’t believe anyone should come to Arizona and not visit Sedona.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
