Meet Nelle | Skin Care Enthusiast & A Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nelle, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has played a huge role in my life since I was an infant. My mother likes to share many stories of when I was a child. Her words in particular truly embody my determination through risk-taking. I used to live in Trinidad throughout my younger years and while I was there, I used to go back and forth between my crib and my mother’s bed thinking I was superwoman. The floors there had no sort of comfort just straight concrete floor. I somehow never touched the ground or managed to fall.
My other favorite story is when I was climbing to the top of the fridge for my tea, resulting in me knocking it over and making a huge mess. She always called me “her little daredevil”. Seeing those memories of me being fearless always humbles me. My whole life I have been taking risks, good ones, bad ones, the not so sure ones — all of them! Each risk I’ve taken has taught me a lesson.
Taking risks has helped me develop a confidence in myself that no one can break. It helped me understand my power in this world and what I could truly accomplish as a woman.
I took a risk at the beginning of the pandemic and started my Vegan Skin Care line. Shortly after I dropped out of college after my senior year with only one semester left — I started pursuing my true passion in the beauty industry. I was unsure about what direction I wanted to take in the beauty industry. Taking the risk of launching my skincare line was huge for me. After taking the first step of getting my LLC, everything else fell right into place. The amount of support I had completely blew my mind.

What should our readers know about your business?
Nellestolgic Skin Care is a Vegan Skin Care brand, but not just any skin care brand. I started formulating products back in 2018-19 in my college apartment— one of my best selling products (Good Days Acne Bar) was once created with Activated Charcoal and Elmer’s Glue as a mask. While pursuing my degree in Computer Science I was eager to also learn how to keep my face healthy with almost no money. Constantly playing around with ingredients, I grew very passionate about skin care and how I can create products for my face that were affordable and effective. That’s when I started taking my craft seriously and started research, buying ingredients, formulating different things. I then got certified in cosmetic formulation! That’s when it all became real to me — I felt confident in my ingredients, my formulas and my products. After getting my LLC, I started promoting my brand to the fullest capacity. I filmed two commercials—then I went from three to twelve beautiful formulated skin loving creations. I sold out my first launch within the first week and ever since then it has been abundance amount of support and love.
This journey of starting a business and creating my very own skin care products has not been easy. I had to learn my audience, marketing strategies, and other various obstacles. The only thing I knew before starting my business was how to make my own logo and website. I have taken every task and adversity head on! Everything I have been through or I’m gonna go through is to prepare me and teach me. I’m never complaining about the process but just trusting and keeping faith.
I want to share my story with the world so that everyone knows that regardless what you been through, no matter where you come from — you have something to contribute. Hard work will prevail!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite go to places would be this amazing soul food spot in Chandler called Nana’s Kitchen. The Hood Rolls spoke to my soul the first time I had them. They hands down have the best soul food in town and did I mention they’re Vegan! Definitely a great spot to choose if you want to try something new, yummy and healthy. Then I end my day off with some delicious sweets— Chillie Willie’s Ice Cream, also Vegan. Some of the best homemade Vegan spots in Arizona.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to all my Glow Getters, family, & friends. Without them Nellestolgic Skin Care would not be operating at the capacity it is today. They have made this journey so fulfilling from the love and support to hearing all the great results they get when using my creations. They make it worth it to keep going and pushing harder!
